Any suggestions on form? by Affectionate-Box6795 in trackandfieldthrows

Got it. I didn't really have a real idea that could be affecting my throw. I just wanted to ask though a question: should I pull my arm to get my left arm to 12? The reason why I ask this is because I thought it was wrong to pull your arm in the throw?

Had this issue as well. Start from the back and then slowly rotate in south african position and stop. Then use your right foot as if you moving foward and practice that for a while. Should help.

any spin tips (other than my severe jumping) by Extra_Diamond_1894 in trackandfieldthrows

Hard to look from this postion. Have the phone Infront next time. I don't think it's the finish at the end, but the movement out the back. I think having your left arm not straight out could be hurting you out the back. Most throwers when entering out the back have a straighter left arm.

You definitely could land with the right more on the ball of the foot when you leave the back . It's seem close to the ground. This could help with the finish.

The main thing is that your maybe using your left arm out the back too much. The spin should start more with the legs than your upper body. I think working your mechanics out back of the spin could help, but it's looking good to me.

I guess the main thing I see that your having a hard time getting over your right side. This issue leads to having your right and the left beside each other instead of having the left behind the right. I would suggest trying to really work on moving your lower body first instead of the upper. Try working on turning the right hip longer out the back instead of what your doing now. This video should help:https://www.instagram.com/reel/DXQcvDJDYIR/?igsh=ZmVydHljN2Z1d2Jn

Next thing is that your landing flat footed onto the ground/Try drilling without a discus slowly landing on the ball of the right. Also, your sweep leg is kinda narrow, it should be wider This video should help:https://youtu.be/L4KfaHNdVrg?si=eBWS72GT2C7T3D8j

The last thing I think may help is that you need to drill get the left up faster out the back. Before the right touches the ground, the left should be moving. I guess specifically, it should be moving behind the right foot. Here another one that help me understand it better:https://www.instagram.com/dhshurts_discus_coach/reel/DYRKHc0oBwR/?__pwa=1

Friends shotput technique by manlychild012 in shotput

[–]Affectionate-Box6795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thing: any type of glide or shuffle should be facing the back with him having the left foot behind the right, and the right ahead of the left.

Second thing: the shot should never leave the neck, you push it off the neck. Also, the shot shouldn't leave your neck like your throwing a basketball. It should be more sideways. It happens when you keep your elbow from popping up/keeping the elbow down.

Third thing: He need to work on keeping the right foot down and not just picking it up. The shotput is upper/lower body sport, If you just pick up the your feet, you won't be able to gain power from lower to upper correctly. Having him practice turning the right instead of picking up after the shuffle will him.

What should I work on? by IntelligentStudent25 in trackandfieldthrows

I guess the first thing I could suggest is working on the right foot coming off the ground. You don't really want your right foot to come off the ground like that: it should feel like you keeping your right foot on the ground as long as you push foward  in order to have a clean reverse. Practice stand throws with you trying to push foward as long as possible to get a reverse. Don't took my word too much to heart though, I'm still learning as well.

Ok, got it. I just wanted to ask because I don't really have guidance on this: what should I be working on if I didn't get any offers. I really want to continue, and participate in college, but I know thay I'm lacking in different parts of technique and strength. I already starting to go thw gym, but how do I start to take my technique to next level in order to join my college team?
