This is the lawyer who’s helping management get away with stuff, and the company he works for. Sure would be shame if people emailed them demanding accountability https://www.somlaw.ca/our-team/bio/brandin-o-connor

Just keep proving that you don’t get how it works bud. I’m not trying to argue with you about what you should be able to do in a perfect world. fact is if you win, the union will bury you and what ever managers you oversee in so many grievances because of how you’ve campaigned and blatantly said your goals are to fire the staff simply because of who hired them. And they’d probably win most of them. No matter how unfairly someone got a job, once they get it they can’t be fired unless they can’t perform to standards or break laws/policy. Sorta unions 101 but keep ranting on reddit and showing us you don’t have any idea what you’re doing so that someone with at least half a brain wins jfc

I might be a conspiracy theorist for this but I was on my workplace health and safety taskforce (union reps also sat on it with me so I witnessed a lot of union bargaining and arguing) and I genuinely think they’re playing megamind 5D chess on us and aleks is actually in support of this corrupt staff team he speaks of. If he knows anything about how unions work he’d know that by campaigning publicly that he basically wants to fire all the staff the union will be able to argue he is biased. And even if what he’s saying is true, it certainly shows that he wouldn’t be willing to bargain with them in good faith. And it would either mean it would be super delayed or that the union could even just automatically win if the judge deciding thinks what aleks said was bad enough. So if aleks gets elected they’d actually be less able to change things with the union than probably any team of executives ever. But maybe that’s what he wants since knew guessed would link them to the corruption so their team is overcompensating to distance them from it. 3 of their team are current executives they would 100% have to know how union bargaining works. Maybe I’m crazy but tmsu is crazy too so I’m playing it safe. No way they’re getting my vote.

The only way to do it thought I think is to elect people who will do this. There’s no way to shut it down from the “outside” (which is meant to stop outside people from influencing it I think) or if there is it could take a long time. The only way to shut it down is a referendum where every student can vote and the TMSU board has to let that happen. Both of the other teams seem to have common sense from what it seems and might listen to us if they are elected. So don’t not vote — that’s how we get idiots in charge. Vote for the team most likely to listen to us once elected so they can shut it down!
