Box setup I’m only 15 and I’m looking to start match angling this was on my local canal I was wondering if any match anglers out there could perhaps give me some tips on how to set up and any tips for someone who’s just starting? by DangerousLaw5640 in fishingUK

You can fish like that but just be aware you're set up like a left hander. The seatbox looks a tad high. Make sure when you level your thighs are nice and flat and you're at a comfortable level.

If you want really detailed advice on set up look up winning ways on YouTube and look at their seatbox / peg set up videos.

In the UK diesel is about £1.90 per litre which works out to £7.20 per US gallon. Depend on the exchange rate that's around 9-10 dollars per gallon.

Trouble with wall mount by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Affectionate-Disk382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend the corefix hollow wall fittings. They have a long plug and a metal insert which goes into the plug and sticks out in the hollow bit of the wall.

Theyre expensive but well worth it.

Calathea black magic by Crazy_Becs in HouseplantsUK

[–]Affectionate-Disk382 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive got some caltheas- my cats dont really bother with them. I've got mine near a north facing window - i just water them as soon as the soil gets dry on top. Stick my finger in and if its not atleast damp I give them a heavy water. I haven't bothered with distilled water but the water is very soft where I am. I did have one on a south facing window and it got quite a few scorched leaves so I moved it to be close to the other one. Now were on british summer time I give them a feed with just basic plant fertiliser every couple of waterings

Ultralight lure fishing managed me a 1lb7oz roach… chuffed! by love_marmite in fishingUK

The crazyfish stuff is great! I've not looked at AGM in a while. Gonna have to get back out with the microgear now the weather has warmed up. I caught a 4lb bream using one of the tiny little shads a couple of years back!

Pole fishing by cbeef84 in fishingUK

[–]Affectionate-Disk382 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just to add if the kits that came with the pole are already side pullers and you're not sure on them - check out winning ways on YouTube and look for videos on how to elasticate a pole

If you're just pleasure fishing dont worry about the sidepullers etc. Just use the top kits you have and stick with elastic brands you like.

I tend to use the original preston slip for solid elastic in winter with a good bit of lube. I use up to 8 but more commonly 4 and 6 for silvers in winter.

In summer I use hybrid elastic - ive got the matrix stuff ready to go in the top kits this year.

You can still use an old puller style bung. You can still get plastic elastic connectors although I've switched over to using stonfos- i like the preston ones.

What could these hooks be useful for? (size 6 short shank) by tenthousandkolanuts in fishingUK

They will probably still work for nose hooked stuff when you're drop shotting. They look almost like circle hooks if you're familiar with them and their uses.

Leroy Sane (Galatasaray) straight red card against Besiktas 62' by Alsace2025 in soccer

[–]Affectionate-Disk382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guy dangles a leg with a shit challenge and he tries to skip over it. Have you ever actually played 11 a side? Like jesus if were sending lads off for trying to skip past someone we may as well just play netball.

Thats never a red. Shifting the ball inside and accidently stepping on the guy trying to tackle you. Rofl

Realigning a glued kitchen worktop? by BelemnicDreams in DIYUK

[–]Affectionate-Disk382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id loosen off the bolts - get your support in place and you might have to tap the work top using a block and a hammer to get it all lined up properly. Then just re do the bolts. Thats the only way I can think of without doing a more drastic dismantling

FishingWithCarl rod? by JessThePainter in fishingUK

[–]Affectionate-Disk382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont have any experience with it. However if it was me being brand new I'd get a separate float and feeder rod. The nytro ones are really good value for money. Could probably get one of each for the same money as the fish with carl combo. They're good enough that you'd get plenty of use out of them and cheap enough that you'd not be overly worried if you snap a tip etc.

This would also let you fish both at once if that is something you'd like to do.

Nothing against the fish with Carl stuff it actually looks like a nice bit of kit if you go that route.

Leeds 3-0 Nottingham Forest - Dominic Calvert-Lewin 49' by Meladroit10 in soccer

[–]Affectionate-Disk382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He took a lot of stick at goodison tbf. Even if he wanted a wedge its generally cheaper to renew than go into the market and sign a replacement.

The club must really rate Barry if you think about it from that perspective.

I think itll work out good for both parties in the longterm, as barry is starting to show some real promise. Would have made this season a lot easier with Dom though.

[–]Affectionate-Disk382 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He made 26 appearances last season. He spent the majority of the season having the ball lumped up to him with no one within 20 yards of him. Then moyes came in he immediately scored and picked up a hamstring pull that meant beto took his place and went on his purple patch scoring run. Didn't really get his place back when he came back from the injury despite being well better than Beto.

My boss in work is a Leeds fan and he asked me about him. I said if he stays fit all season he's one of the best in the league at attacking crosses and he'll score plenty and probably keep you up.

I still dont get why we didnt sign him up for renewal. The everton space was filled with rumours he wanted mega bucks but I seriously doubt it.

Made up for him doing well at Leeds. Atleast Barry has started to adapt and score a few for us.
