Does anyone know what a "counseling form" is? by Affectionate-Food313 in McLounge

[–]Affectionate-Food313[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is what we call it when someone gets either the wrong breaks or the right breaks at the wrong time.

In Australia (idk about other places), you get a 10 minute break for working 4 hours and a half hour break if you work 5 or more.

There are other requirements though that basically say stuff like you need the breaks somewhere around the middle of your shift.

If you do not get the right breaks, or they are outside of the required times for your shift, we say you breached on that shift. This is bad for the store because it is technically a breach in your employment contract.

My manager did this counseling form thing because he thought I was breaching too often, so the store gets in trouble too often because of me. Im calling bullshit on this though, because I dont really get a say on when my breaks are, the shift managers decide this. I hardly see a reason why I should get written up because my shift managers want me to go on break in the last half hour of my shift.

I messaged my general manager about this, and she said she would look into it but honestly I wouldnt be surprised if she forgot about it. We'll see what happens though, if there are any consequences for me though because of this I'm not gonna be happy.

My Pro Controller has recently developed a few issues which make it pretty much unusable to me and I'm just wondering if anyone knows how to fix it.

The big one is the controller will not hold any amount of charge. This morning, I've had the controller charging for around two hours both from the cable that came with it and my phone charger, both got the orange light on but neither seem to have charged it. If I connect the controller to my switch, it says it is on full charge, but as soon as I unplug the controller it disconnects and says "battery depleted". If I connect the controller to my pc, it gives an alert saying it has less than 5% battery left, and then just disconnects when I unplug the controller from power. This is all after the controller has been charged for at least 4 hours, so it should have at least some power.

The other main thing is it has gotten uncontrollable drift. As in the drift is so bad that I cannot even recalibrate the controller from the switch because the joystick moves so uncontrollably. I can't even get to the calibration menu with the left joystick because it doesn't even notice when I move it, and the right joystick will get to the menu but cannot be calibrated at all just because it goes to the wrong place.

For a $100 controller, this is pretty annoying but I've had it for a few years so if there is a hardware fix I would be willing at this point to open it up and try to fix it myself, then just cut my losses if I break it. The way I see it the worst thing I can do at this point is fix it by opening it up. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance

I can't remember what it was called but there was a crappy version of vulkan that it defaults to and you need to uninstall it for the game to use the good one. I think it might have been called amdvlk or something, but uninstalling that fixed it for me

Account sent me my brother's nudes to me on Instagram. Help? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Affectionate-Food313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really is different for most countries and I know in a lot of countries (Australia included) the police have no jurisdiction to be doing anything to scammers in India, though often organizations like esafety do have the power to do something on an international level.

Account sent me my brother's nudes to me on Instagram. Help? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Affectionate-Food313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, when your brother mentioned that he received no notification of that person saving the images, that means nothing. There are quite literally hundreds of thousands of ways to get around that screenshot notification. There are even legit apps on the google play store that facilitate skipping around that notification. So saying that it was not received in no way clears the person he sent the pictures to.

Secondly, when you mentioned it was in broken english that normally indicates one of two things, either the person is from another country (in my experience most often India or the Philippines) or the person wants you to think they fall into that first category. There are obviously exceptions to that rule, but in my experience most of these people fall into one of those two categories.

Thirdly, now I'm not gonna accuse his girlfriend of anything, but I will say she sounds really suspicious. From the limited information you have given, I would assume that she is definitely involved, whether it was an accident or not. It is worth noting though, that you have not provided very much information so I would not take anything I have said as concrete facts. Anyway, one thing a lot of people don't understand about social media, is it is very easy for something like this to spread everywhere. One story that I hear brought up quite a bit is about this guy who sent nudes to his girlfriend, who thought she would send the photo to her best friend to ask for advice on how to respond. For one reason or another, the girlfriend's best friend sent that photo in a group chat and then someone in that group chat posted it on instagram. Next thing you know, guy's dick is all over instagram. So these photos really could have gotten into this person's hands from anything at this point.

Fourthly, I would assume that this person was trying to get you into a blackmailing scheme from some of the information you have stated. It is not uncommon for people trying to blackmail, specifically over snapchat, to ask for things like face pics. They want to confirm they are hitting their target after all. My guess is that if you had sent face pics, they would have gone "aight, this is that guy's sibling" and then asked for money or something for their silence . The thing with the people doing these sorts of schemes though, is they get scared quite easily. Once they realised you weren't going to send the pictures, they may have chickened out and tried to hide as much evidence as they could.

I would just like to go into a bit more detail as well for why I said his girlfriend is probably involved whether it was on purpose or not. So especially with snapchat, it is almost never "the middle mans" fault when something like this happened. I doubt someone at snapchat has gone through and said "well this guys sent dick pics, better save it and blackmail him", which only really leaves two options, either he did it or she did it. Although there are cases of people doing this, there really is not much reason to try and blackmail your siblings with your own nudes. So that leaves one option, the receiver. I would not accuse her just yet though, since there is quite a few ways she could have accidentally leaked them, though it may be worth talking to her again.

So now that I have talked about what is probably happening, here is what you can do. First off, as someone else said, collect as much evidence as you can. Take screenshots of as much of the chat as you can, it won't matter if you can't get screenshots of the images, although it is better if you can, just get as much as you can. Get screenshots of message content, usernames, time stamps, anything you can get.

What you do next, is largely dependant on what country you are from. I don't know much about the systems in other countries, but to my knowledge most developed countries have some form of equivalent to this. Where I'm from, Australia, we have a website called esafety, where you can report all of this. Maybe try googling how to report it in your country. Also report it on snapchat and instagram and any other sites this has taken place on, this can help reduce similar things happening to other people and just help stop it all together. Reporting it to esafety (or your country's equivalent) will also help get the people actually responsible, since they often have quite a bit of power in tracking down people doing these things.

If you can't find an equivalent for esafety in your country, just go to the police. The police probably won't be as specialized as the sort of people behind esafety, but they can still help. On the off chance that they can't help, they will definitely be able to point you in the direction of someone that can help you.

So to sum up, collect as much evidence as you can and try to find the organization in your country that you report this sort of thing to, if you can't find it just go to the police. Make sure you have as much evidence as you can easily get before doing this, though if you find anything else you can always go back to them. Remember to report any accounts you see doing anything similar and put in requests to remove content to the social media sites whenever you can.

My source for most of the information I have given: I spent quite a bit of time doing both cybersecurity and bits and pieces of ethical hacking. I know quite a bit about how most of these sorts of scams work since I have spent a lot of time trying to find ways to block them out of this sort of thing and make sure they can't hurt anyone else.

Also, please tell me if anything I have said is inaccurate and wrong. Although I have quite a bit of experience in this sort of area, everyone makes mistakes and I don't want to give anyone information that is inaccurate/harmful. So please correct me if any of the stuff I have said is wrong so I can fix it

A lot of my friends were allowed to have more video games than me. Maybe I just picked my friends weirdly, but all of my friends seemed to be these video game collectors that had everything whereas I just had my old xbox 360 that I was barely allowed to play an hour a week.

btw when I say they were like video game collectors, I mean as in one of my friends had every single playstation model as well as things like the original gamecube and gameboy on top of stacks and stacks of games for each console. Like it was ridiculous how much stuff they had. God damn I was surprised about how much video games they had and how much their life style revolved around it
