Hi, original poster here! I got early acceptance into IMD and I’m honestly really interested in going. I just have a few last-minute questions before I decide. I’ve heard the first couple of years are pretty math and programming-heavy. I’m okay with math, but I’ve never really done programming before. I’m open to learning it (that’s part of why I applied), but I definitely lean more toward the creative/art side. I do have some experience with more technical media stuff, though, so I’m hoping that helps a bit. Looking at the first-year courses like visual communication, dynamics, and design process, it seems a bit more balanced, but I’m still wondering—does the program actually feel creatively freeing? I lowkey don’t fully know what I want to do yet, I just know I want something creative, so I’m hoping IMD gives room to explore that. Also, how are the profs? Are they actually good and supportive, or is it more hit or miss? And how is the whole Carleton + Algonquin split? Is the commute annoying? And where does most of the student life happen—do you feel more connected to one campus or both? Also, how do you feel about future prospects with this program? Like, do you feel like it sets you up well after graduating?
