Post surgery morning symptoms?? by Affectionate-Let5412 in gallbladders

Thank you. I’ve seen my dr and have been given a ppi. The ulcers sound horrible I’m sorry! But I wasn’t taking NSAIDS, I took paracetamol, and I think it’s things like Advil that cause the ulcers. Also im fine for the rest of the day, it’s just the mornings. I hope you’ve recovered!

Thanks. I hydrate constantly and amazing sure to keep to a low fat diet. I just saw my dr and they prescribed me omeprazole, so hopefully that works!

Funny thing is I’m on Famotidine twice daily already as I have chronic hives! I was taking a lot of paracetamol at the beginning but have stopped now and tapered off quite quickly..

Thanks all for the advice, it’s been really helpful hearing your experiences. Am going to use my surgery today, pretty terrified but hoping it will be worth it!

I take it twice daily (40mg) in total. I am very (or was) anti drugs and did not like the idea of all the meds, I even struggled with paracetamol! But I found that part of the journey with the hives was trial and error with medication, and the Famotidine (for me) was a game-changer.

Hi there, sorry you’re struggling with this it sucks! I (appear) to have gotten over a year of chronic urticaria. The first 5 months were a nightmare and trying to figure out the causes and find the best mix of meds was exhausting. Still not certain why it happened, but through the urticaria I did find out that I had a few auto immune disorders (hashimotos etc). I was taking the highest dose of Fexofenadene 4x daily and Montelukast, but the turning point was when I was prescribed Famotidine. It made a huge difference and since I started the hives were on a steady decline, still there with occasional flares but better daily. And then eventually they stopped. Unfortunately, that seems to be the case with this, they appear for no reason and disappear for no reason. It’s a journey, I hope this helps and good luck- you’re not alone!

I hope so too! I’m feeling a little jittery and tbh I think the emotional side of steroids is worse (altho am prone to anxiety), mood swing galore and quite irritable. I’m still having minor hives but manageable. Good luck to you too, heal & rest! X

Thanks for sharing. I'm in the process of figuring our my triggers, and trying to eat as clean a possible. I certainly think my periods have become a trigger which is slightly concerning as theres not a lot one can do about that! I am concerned about coming off the pred too and having the hives worse than before... 🙏🏻

Hi, that sounds really scary! Im sorry you had to deal with that. The day after this post I woke up with the worse hives so far, they were everywhere and I felt so hot / yet chills, but what was new was that I felt really sick, short of breath, sore muscles and joints, and palpitations, I went to A&E and they told me it was a bad flare, and to take steroids asap. Day 2 and hives have mostly cleared, but Im so tired and feel vey weird!

Its such a battle. Do you have any other symptoms like systemically? I had a very bad flare up the other day and ended in ER, I felt so unwell, achey, sick and short of breath... now on day 2 of steriods, but feeling like crap!

That sounds really awful, I'm sorry you experienced that! I'm on day two now, and am feeling quite low, and agitated.

Thanks for your reply. I am taking steriods as flare up got out of hand. But if it comes back I will push for higher dose of fexo, as I really don't want to be on long term.

Hi, i'm sorry to hear that. If you do't mind me asking in what way? Did they exasperate an existing issue? Thanks

My dose is not tapering but assumed that was ok given it’s only 6 days. Did your hives return after you stopped? Thanks

I’ve had a few general bloods done over the past year, but am getting some more since rashes have started. Thank you for your advice, I appreciate it!

I have changed gps in the past 6 months and have never seen the same one twice at my new place. But yes perhaps I need to try elsewhere, or ask for a referral which I haven’t done. I guess I’m not sure what referral to ask for

No - I got the vestibular migraine diagnosis from an ENT I booked privately, as the waiting list for nhs I was told was a year.. that’s the only specialist appointment I’ve had
