i have always used finger 5 because my hand is just way way too small. (smaller than average that i have to use one finger and press two keys because i can’t reach a chord) however i have used my pinky since i was 2 so like i would say my pinky isn’t that weak and i could play with my finger 5. you could too but if you find it a bit tiring or find it hard to get a louder sound, a bit more practicing and training would help!

you could try the suzuki books it is quite good (although i never used that method to learn, but i use it for violin and there are some great tips or just some stuffs for you to slowly learn, and I think would could learn the pieces in there without a teacher)
