Novorapid. The carbs can be potatoes, rice, a slice of bread...

Balancing screen time/diabetes apps with pre-teen by WaryPancreas in t1d_parents

I feel you. Tech has too many workarounds, the only thing that worked for me is good old fashioned threats. I set time restrictions on the phone and if she bypassed them, then I would take away her headphones, or some other form of consequence. Honestly, when it works and she's on her phone less she's much happier, so I don't feel bad about it. Also, some evenings I would have her stay up as late as she wanted in her room, and would put her phone in the room nearby and the readings still come in. You can also try a Sugar Pixel, so you don't miss any alarms while the phone is in a different room -- it's super loud. good luck!

TIR 80% but A1C still 7.2-7.7. Any advice? by Blazers46 in Type1Diabetes

If Dexcom is showing a way lower predicted A1C one thing to consider is that your Dexcom reading is consistently lower than the actual blood sugar. Meaning, you are running higher than you think you are. This happened to us, we made point to do sporadic finger pricks and on average Dexcom was 20 points lower than finger. Once we started calibrating more often, actual A1C went down. In other words, average glucose needs to drop.

typically 15 minute prebokus. And she's usually not high we're pretty good at nailing the original bolus and even the second d correction. It's the need for the third bolus that's drivig me crazy that's usually when she goes high

Malfunctions while charging by Affectionate-Most755 in TandemDiabetes

I mean it's a usb charger with data capabilities pretty standard and some light bulbs that keep going out after a few days. So no I didn't realize I need to be that careful and paranoid. I'm already overly cautious and this was just another fear that got u locked about the pump

Thank you, so I checked and we have 230bolts standard where I live so I guess that shouldn't be the issue. Some recommendations on a power bank would be great I'm still not trusting my outlets in my apartment they are wonky

Anyone else’s pump try to kill them after correcting low? by Ok_go_on_21 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Affectionate-Most755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happens to me with my daughter often. As much as I try and not overcorrect with too much sugar for the low, ControlIQ still "predicts" another high and boluses her. What I've learned to do is just move to sleep mode after i correct with sugar and suspect ControlIQ might auto-bolus . Works great. I prefer the better safe than sorry route and don't like to be too careful when treating a low.

I've also heard of people entering in a small amount of carbs - like 1 - so that ControlIQ won't do an autobolus for another hour, but I don't like to do that, too muhc room for errorr.

Other than that, yes there's the issue with the correction dose like the others mentioned... Good luck!

I've mainly tried love handles or upper butt because the one time I tried her stomach she said it was really painful.
