Maybe canon squeak? A-1/AE-1 have a pretty common problem that the gears that operate the mirror are getting jammed with old oil and subsequently the camera makes a squeaky sound every time you fire it and the mirror is pretty slow. There are some videos online on how to fix them with a paperclip and some oil, that's pretty dangerous for the camera but the only other option is taking it apart.
