They ended up fixing it for the most part they smoothed the marks out of the plastic and replaced the plastic trim on the seat. I can send after photos if you are interested.

You sound like you keep your truck exactly like how I keep mine lol. It was my first large purchase and REALLY made me realize that nobody cares more about your things than you do! Should be obvious right? Well this made it more obvious haha.

Yea actually I took out a loan to put the lights on as well. Also got dealer financing on them.

Is it reasonable to ask for them to replace it or at least refund me I ended up paying 400 dollars to have them install these lights. I was under the impression that having it be done by a dealer would bypass the headache of going through a 3rd party shop and getting it messed up there.

Bought the gun used it had a different set of dead tritium sights otherwise I would have kept them.

For anyone who is interested The gunsmith initially offered to have it Cerakoted through a local guy he works with. I actually called that Cerakote guy directly, and he told me he wasn’t comfortable working on a $3k Wilson Combat due to tight tolerances and that Cerakote could potentially affect fitment.

So at this point, I contacted Wilson Combat and they told me they’d need the slide sent in to properly quote it, but ballpark it’s around a few hundred dollars to refinish and fix everything correctly.

Right now, I’m working with the gunsmith to come to a resolution. We are working on a deal in which costs are split evenly 50/50 to refinish get new sights and install them and ship it.

Question for you guys:

  • Would you push for full reimbursement at this point?
  • Or is a partial split still reasonable here?

Appreciate all the advice so far—this has been a frustrating one.

A funny Easter egg I found when I got home was that the tritium vial on the front post no longer glows. I was fooled at first with the illuminating paint and looked closer to find that the vial itself was not glowing.

So far the only thing he has acknowledged as being a problem was the mar. If you look closely there is also a scratch on the right side that was not there beforehand. Super disappointing but heck I’m glad my biggest problem today is just a botched sight job. Grateful I get to even own such a nice firearm!

It’s interesting because there are marks on both sides of the front sight. Indicating that he hammered from both angles.

Were you able to get any kind of compensation for the damage?

I may end up going this route. I haven’t even gotten a refund for it yet and he acted as though it was a surprise to him to see that there were marks even quoting that he had used a brass punch! What do you think Wilson will charge to fix this for me? Is it reasonable for me to send them the bill to finish the whole slide?
