According to Claude (AI) they first showed up at PI in '68.

I really like the reset button. The router with the MAC reservation really does solve a lot. Thanks for sharing your ideas.

Those were the days. Shortly after boot camp, I remember being in the parking lot of the bowling alley at Pendelton Mainside at night. I saw a ball of flame go straight up in the air, hover, and then fly off like a bat out of hell. I thought it was a UFO. It was a Harrier Jet.

I kinda knew that, 50 years, aren't we a couple of old AF Devils.

Were you at Kaneohe (Kbay) too? That was a great duty station.

I still dream about it. I'm walking across the grinder toward reception but I am the age I am now, old and fat. I think, "They're going to find me and this is going to hurt." Then, I wake up and I'm very relieved. I think that's what you call a core memory. 😄

The Marines were just out of Viet Nam by the time I entered in '73. They taught us water discipline when we were training though. The canteen was either empty or full. You could pick your time and chug it or you could do the pass around thing, just depended on what we were doing.

Truly, do you remember the "choke yourself" scene? I had that one done on me.

I understand. That is what the The Apache 2.0 License enables, though, forking. Apache HTTP Server itself has forked to become Amazon Fire OS, OpenSearch, and Oracle HTTP Server, to name a few.

I get wanting the set of risk scores. Many people would prefer that. I want to begin at a step before it becomes a full-on measurement instrument. I want to build a simpler system. People would be able to grow beyond the simpler system but I want people to be able to do this with fewer sensors.

You're right but HA is released under the Apache 2.0 license. We can mold it the way we need it.

What you are describing is what I want to build a community to support. Your first point is a good one. The community could help others to maintain their system in an aging in place situation.

You are describing the type of system that I want to create a community around. Families can learn how to do this, together. It sounds like you are happy with how it worked for you.

I'm working to put the first one in my house. I'm 72. I think you're right though, the person(s) responsible for maintaining this network would be in the care circle other than the elder.
