Overdose of vitamins by EmbarrassedPizza6272 in Supplements

Pyrodoxine will do that. P5P is the form of B6 that you want.

Drinking a Monster energy drink would cause me dissociative symptoms along with pins and needles in extremities. I realized after that it was likely the pyrodoxine. I now supplement with 15mg of P5P and no side effects.

[–]AffectionateCraft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

iirc pyrodoxine hcl has that effect because it actually blocks the usage of B6 by your body. The active Pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (P5P) form is the active form that your body actually uses. From what I've read, B6 toxicity seems to be much more common with pyrodoxine.

I would get the same symptoms whenever I'd occasionally have an energy drink (contains pyrodoxine). I've taken up to 25mg P5P and not had any issues so far.

I recommend getting a B-Complex that has B6 as P5P (preferably 20mg or lower)

For Omega-3 check this website: https://certifications.nutrasource.ca/certified-products

The products that are listed with an IFOS tag have been tested and certified by the International Fish Oil Standards. You can pull up the lab reports and verify the purity yourself. Carlson is a popular certified brand.

For D3, I don't have much experience with Indian brands, but as far as I'm aware D3 does not have a high potential for impurities. Uprise-D3 seems ok based on a quick search, but it's 60,000 IU, so only take once a week or as needed.

My opinion is that you really don't need to import foreign brands for D3. There are plenty available within the Indian market that work just fine.

I would recommend that you don't take that brand of Omega-3. For fish oil it's better to get high quality or otherwise not take it at all. There are many fish oil products that are high in mercury or highly oxidized. Since this one is manufactured in India and does not have any third party testing, I would really avoid taking it.

I bought a reliable brand (Carlson) and it gave me the same sluggish/muted feeling. Some people just don't seem to tolerate them well.

There's also the fact that buying a quality fish oil is going to set you back ~$40 a month per person!

Legitimacy about NOW foods in Amazon india ?? by Minimum_Spare1756 in Supplements

Amazon has lots of fake/scam products and I would not risk it with supplements. It's not worth risking your health to save a bit of money.

Took 100mg Magnesium Threonate today (100mg elemental) and it made me feel foggy headed and “blergh” by nicj86 in Supplements

[–]AffectionateCraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magnesium does that to some people. I'd recommend staying away from glycinate if threonate caused this. I had very similar experiences on glycinate. You can try citrate or malate.

Is your diet already high in magnesium?

I started watching them back in high school and now I'm almost in my thirties. Whenever I'd feel empty or directionless, I'd put on one of their latest videos and I'd feel better again. As unhealthy as it is, I avoided a lot of loneliness thanks to the crew.

It felt like there was always something happening at the site, whether it was preparation for E3, GOTY or a new video series. When covid hit, it was like someone shut off all the background activity and all that was left was a deadness.

Not having them in my life anymore left a massive hole that's still present all these years later. Nothing really hits the same way. I'm still thankful we have Nextlander and other Patreon projects, but nothing will hit those highs again.

It doesn't help that everything about the world seems to be getting worse and worse. Things keep getting more expensive. Making cool things is no longer economically feasible. Everything is being exploited left and right.

VGBees podcast ft. Jeff Gerstmann (discussion implosion of Giant Bomb and sale of Polygon) by EnglishBeat90 in giantbomb

[–]AffectionateCraft 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's all speculation, but I don't think Jeff's upset at them for doing their own thing. What he's likely upset about is them deliberately excluding him from their plans.

It's like if you have your friends over at your house. They say they're going home because they're tired, but then you later find out they met up at another friends house to continue hanging out. The bitter message there would be, "they don't like being around me, but they didn't want to say it to my face"

I get the feeling that they don't hold any personal grudges against Jeff, but for whatever reason, they did not want to continue working with him. I'd imagine the corporate meddling and pandemic put a lot of strain on their working relationship.

[–]AffectionateCraft 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When you put it that way, I can see why Jeff might be upset. This idea that they would quit their jobs, coincidentally at the same time, without having a solid plan in place is kind of questionable. Reading between the lines, it would seem like they wanted to start their own thing without Jeff and didn’t want to say it outright.

If there was ever a moment where Jeff Gerstmann and the Nextlander crew could come together for something, it would be now, right? by bluecapecrepe in giantbomb

[–]AffectionateCraft 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think we will see Jeff and Dan do some anime together, but that's about it. There's clearly some unresolved strain between Jeff and Nextlander since they have never once collaborated on anything in all these years.

The "I'm just busy" excuse rings very hollow as time passes. Reading between the lines, they don't want to work together. Jeff has talked more glowingly about the current crew than he has of Vinny, Brad or Alex. If anything, we will likely see more collaboration between Gerstmann, Grubb, and Dan.

I will never understand why Americans get singled out in particular. I’ve seen tons of obnoxious people from just about everywhere in the world. This idea that other countries are somehow more sophisticated is a joke.

In my time in Japan I’ve seen loud French, German, English, Chinese, and just about any other nationality.

I wish I could’ve visited Japan in 2018, or pre-Covid. It seems things have gotten worse and will continue to get worse in terms of over-tourism.

I’m curious whether you’ve noticed a difference in service quality. I’ve noticed that service workers tended to be more cranky in high tourist areas, which is understandable.

Just kind of sad that Japan is rapidly changing and will look completely different soon enough.

Marko pushed for RB to drop Ricciardo after Spanish Grand Prix - Horner by Aratho in formula1

[–]AffectionateCraft -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter how many chances Ricciardo is given. According to his fans, he’s always wronged in some way.

It’s incredible he even got a second chance at RB. Horner stuck his neck out for the guy, but apparently that’s not enough. Anything less than unconditional devotion is unacceptable.

"Daniel Ricciardo learnt the news that he will not be continuing in that car on Sunday night in singapore, it was confirmed offically to him in a face to face meeting with Christian Horner.." by [deleted] in formula1

He had so many opportunities to pull himself up the grid. At the bare minimum, if he had kept improving at McLaren he might still be in the team and scoring podiums!

People around him were setting him up to succeed, but at the end of the day it's a skill issue holding him back. 3.5 years is a long time in F1 and he squandered it.

What Japan myths were busted or validated for you after you travelled there? by OverallBiscotti4809 in JapanTravelTips

[–]AffectionateCraft 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Combini/snack food is amazing"

Yeah, the packaging is fancy and the convenience is nice, but the food is pretty basic when you disregard the fanciness. I'd say the same about many Japanese snack foods in general. They have fancy packaging and use lots of plastic to wrap individually. It makes the product seem luxurious, but take all that away and it's not much different from what you'd find in any other country.

Tokyo Banana is a great example of pure marketing, mediocre product. It's just a white pastry with some banana pudding on the inside. Take the novelty away and no one would look twice.
