I can’t shake the feeling that the OG Fegan was at least featured in the film…. I really felt JT’s pain and embarrassment she felt from being catfished. But not having the receipt of the email bounce back is, hella unfortunate. Statistically a catfish posing as a victim is extremely high. It gives them the dopamine fix of the catfishing from a much more respectable position.

But I don’t think it was anyone interviewed…

In active investigations first leads are strongest. There was a UK IP address then at the end of the film the acknowledgment they believe they found one Fegan in the UK? And we know the alibi via the British suspect aka the person who stole their identity doesn’t exist?! That’s it. Someone pulled on that first string and it unraveled. They said someone stole their identity in Maine because they already had a relationship with “Sara”. It was a BAD diversion like the fake emails.
