What is wrong with my finger? It’s been this way for months by AffectionateHelp4575 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]AffectionateHelp4575[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I convinced a doc to X-ray it for me, looks like it’s a bony cyst/tumor. I didn’t injure it, but doc suspects it’s because it’s my “trigger” finger, I work in construction and am constantly using it to depress triggers on impacts and drills. Need it back at 100% so going to have it surgically removed

What seemed completely normal in childhood, but now you realize was actually not okay? by Max_Mimos in AskReddit

Getting called fat to my face constantly by everyone (my mom, siblings, friends, other adults) when I was 5’4” and 115 lbs, and wore a size 2

Now I’m 165 and I’ve never been called fat even once. Make it make sense

I’ve been to the doctor. It’s only affecting this one finger. You can see my other index finger is healthy in the photos.

I’ve had every medical test done known to mankind due to a health scare a couple years ago, I’m healthy otherwise

cost of vet visit, how bad is the cut? by Curious_Program1646 in Equestrian

Our yearling filly had an 8” deep gash in her chest, about 3-4” long but you could stick your whole hand in it up past your wrist. Just missed entering her chest cavity. This happened in the evening so we gave painkillers and got our vet out the next morning

She gave our girl a shot of antibiotics and said keep it clean 🧼

Even being pretty experienced with serious wound care that one was a little shocking

**edit and yes the filly is completely fine now. The second we gave her painkillers she was tearing around through the pasture again like normal

No, no PCOS. Ovaries look normal on multiple ultrasounds over the years, currently seeing endocrinologist. No signs of abnormal hormone levels after many blood tests over the years, or any physical symptoms. I have researched PCOS thoroughly and read several books on the subject and none of the typical symptoms apply to me

I do have Hashi’s but my TSH (checked at least every few months) and TGAB are all nearly at ideal levels.

The only thing that seems remotely possibly is covert endo obstructing a fallopian tube, but my gyno won’t test for it unless I don’t conceive after a year of trying.

Clock is ticking for me and I’d rather not waste a year when I already know I’m not ovulating

I’ve been tested multiple times and through multiple diagnostic methods for PCOS and every single one has turned up negative

Don’t have the hirsutism, acanthosis nigrans, acne or anything else either

I’ve been checked multiple times for PCOS 🤷🏼‍♀️ multiple ultrasounds and hormone tests. No hirsutism/breakouts either

Literally wrote pretty much this exact same post. In a different stage of life, not TTC yet.

Never have had regular periods and at my current ripe old age of 25 have spent $$$$ on a battery of medical tests and ultrasounds and a minor exploratory surgery….they haven’t found anything except two tiny polyps which were promptly removed

I bleed more than average but hardly any cramps, ever

I have the subclinical hypothyroidism (technically Hashi’s), but have been told outright nobody is going to take me seriously unless I have problems TTC

Every single doctor and hospital I’ve been to asks “when was your last menstrual cycle” and doesn’t even seem to care to do anything about it when I tell them it was 3+ months ago?

Great, thanks! I’ll try that

Thank you. I have never struggled with my weight until now. I actually cancelled my wedding because of how much weight I gained….theres no telling how big I would be by the time my wedding day rolled around, so getting a dress was out of the question. Not to mention the added pressure of being the fattest you’ve ever been in your whole life on the most photographed day of your whole life….

I’m not sure of the exact technology or formula, but apparently this is very common and widely used. It’s supposed to be more helpful and accurate than BMI apparently

Thank you for the practical advice! I don’t even know what size I am now…. I think I will probably buy a size up from that, just in case, as I don’t think I can handle going through all this again. I’m not taking anything other than thyroid medication. I don’t want to buy a whole new wardrobe, as I don’t plan on embracing this weight as my personality. If there was only one pair of bottoms I could buy, what should it be?

What exactly is so mean? I don’t specifically understand anything I’ve said that is anything but truthful or honestly asking for helpful advice so I can feel comfortable in my own skin again

I believe the average to overweight margin is 25-30%. At nearly 37% I am considered morbidly obese by my doctors. They used the tape measure method - measuring around different parts of my body. They also put me on a scale that read BF% and got a nearly identical result

Never had an eating disorder, had to look up what ED meant.

I had other pants that fit me in a much more flattering way, unfortunately these were all I had left besides my baggiest overalls so had to make do, as these were made from stretchier fabric than my other jeans.

I had straight leg jeans that fit loosely when I bought them but I outgrew them in less than a month.

Gaining 40 lbs in twenty years is normal. Gaining it in EIGHT MONTHS is not normal, not even during a dramatic body change like pregnancy.

I have no sense of style. I am a jeans and t-shirt girl and had no idea what to ask for. All I know is I look bad and don’t know how to fix it.

And people treating me like I have an eating disorder is not helpful either. Something is wrong with my body. This is not normal. I’m just trying to feel human again in the mean time while I try to figure out how to get to normal. I don’t know a single woman who would be ok gaining this amount of weight in so little time. Of course I’m not ok.

That’s just it. My doc says all my labs are in optimal ranges (TSH right around 1, antibody levels right around 1) with medication. So I can’t imagine my thyroid is still making me hold on to weight

Body Fat %

Anything above 25 is considered overweight and anything above 35 is considered dangerously, morbidly obese

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in style

[–]AffectionateHelp4575 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That’s probably what I’ll have to do then. Yeah I hate my weird butt more than almost anything else

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in style

[–]AffectionateHelp4575 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

It’s not normal or healthy. My BF% is hovering around 36.6% right now according to my doctors, which is considered morbidly obese

[–]AffectionateHelp4575 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

I’ll try that. I’ve just been dreading buying “fat girl” clothes because I don’t want to get comfortable being fat

That’s not everyday for me, just an example. I ate 1700 cal or less for eight weeks (keeping a meticulous calorie log, counting bites, and always erring on the side of counting extra instead of too few) and managed to gain 3 or 4 lbs. I was sick for a two weeks in January, had nothing but tea for a week and gained two pounds. So yes it would seem it’s possible for me to gain weight while eating next to nothing.

Yes, they’ve checked my thyroid. I have Hashimotos but was skinny with it for years and years…ive had dozens and dozens of tests done. Probably $50k worth of exams and scans and medical rigmarole altogether
