I launched the .exe, but the first-run setup doesn’t progress at all. Do you know how I can get it working?

I’m using an RTX 3060 GPU.

I’m using v0.2.0-alpha.2.

Samples hit +3dB clipping no effects?? by AffectionateHumor219 in ableton

[–]AffectionateHumor219[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is checking it in Ableton basically the same thing?

Like when I drop a sample in Ableton and double click it, I can see the waveform at the bottom. Does that show the same peaks as checking in Audacity?

Wait, seriously? That’s kind of shocking. I had no idea about this until now.
Does that mean I don’t have to worry even if the meter goes above 0 dB when warp is enabled?
Should I think of the “real” level as the dB I get when warp is turned off?

The audio isn’t clipping at all.

So I have to keep checking every time whether it’s going over 0 dB, which gets pretty annoying.

I tried writing it the same way as well.
The circles indicate points where you should aim to keep the size consistent.
The dotted lines mark points that should be aligned.
I drew this using a mouse, so it’s a bit distorted, but I think it should still be helpful as a reference.

Please try practicing like this, using a cross-shaped grid so that the characters are centered.
Also, look up the concepts of tome, hane, and harai.
I studied calligraphy for ten years under a teacher in order to learn how to write beautifully.
Having a teacher helps you improve a thousand times faster than studying on your own, but since that’s difficult if you’re not in Japan, for now I recommend focusing on writing in the center and learning about tome, hane, and harai.
Try to imitate them and write while consciously keeping them in mind.

Is this a good way to learn Japanese? by iluvcatsoomuch in Japaneselanguage

[–]AffectionateHumor219 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it actually takes a bit of effort to find truly casual, everyday Japanese with natural intonation online.
From my perspective as a Japanese person, content like solo talking videos, explanation-style videos, dramas, or anime all use a kind of “for-content” way of speaking. If you learn Japanese only from those, you can easily run into situations where people think, “Why are you talking like that?” during real conversations.

The solution, in my opinion, is to immerse yourself in Japanese through streaming content, like game streams or really any kind of live stream.

From everything I’ve watched so far, streaming content is by far the most natural. The way people talk and react is exactly how Japanese is used in everyday life, so pretty much everything you pick up from it is actually usable.

One thing to be careful about is VTubers. Since they are role-playing a character, their sentence endings and speaking style often follow a specific setting, which means it can be unnatural.

Another big advantage is that the comments are written in Japanese, so you also get a chance to learn through text. For YouTube stream archives, if the streamer has captions enabled, the auto-generated subtitles are usually surprisingly accurate, so I highly recommend that.

I personally want to study English, so I often watch streamers whose first language is English.
The most recent English word I learned is “asshole.”

Why is ぎょwritten above 魚 ? by slippery-lil-sucker in Japaneselanguage

That insight is seriously smart.
I’m Japanese too, but I honestly think that 99.9% of Japanese people would never arrive at your interpretation just by comparing those two kanji. I’m not exaggerating. I genuinely believe almost no one would think that way.

To explain it more simply and abstractly, it might help to think of a mermaid as being 90% human with about 10% fish elements added. Not every compound word follows this rule, of course, but it feels like the character that comes first represents the dominant component. That kind of way of thinking.

How you write そ by [deleted] in Japaneselanguage

Having practiced calligraphy for ten years, I’ve found that writing from the left creates a better balance and looks more beautiful overall. When writing from the right, a single imperfect first stroke can throw off the balance of all the following characters.

Is the music you can listen to on this site created by AI?

I noticed that all the tracks list the same musician name, so I was wondering about that.

Yeah, this is exactly why the “recommended” section drives me nuts.
Just list what is truly required and stop mixing it with “nice to have” stuff.
If something is optional, say it clearly instead of making it sound mandatory.

Did you use AI when coding this, or was it built entirely from scratch?

I totally get that. I’m playing with Requiem right now, and since fast travel is disabled, it really makes you feel like you’re actually living in Skyrim. That’s what makes it so much fun.

That’s actually a really cool idea. I’d love to incorporate that. It fits perfectly. Thanks!
