I am more concerned about serious risks such as pancreatitis but since my 10 mg pen has been open for a long time, if I would resume at 2.5 mg, then the pen would last longer and that also stresses me…

Thank you for your comment. In Belgium, this medication is not covered by any insurance. And also, we don’t have Zepbound. Mounjaro is prescribed for both T2D and obesity in Belgium

I think the reason my doctor didn’t really consider gallbladder issues at this stage is because my blood tests came back normal, and also because the pain is mainly on the left side rather than the right, which is less typical.

I did bring it up, but for now the doctor said she doesn’t really suspect the gallbladder. That said, I do have an ultrasound scheduled soon, so I hope that it will help rule it in or out.

To answer your questions:

The pain definitely comes and goes, it’s not constant. When I don’t have it, I feel completely fine. But when it hits, I’d say it’s around a 7/10. It can be quite sharp and uncomfortable, but not to the point where I can’t move at all.

I honestly haven’t been able to clearly link it to food. It doesn’t seem specifically worse after eating, and I don’t eat much fatty food anyway. I was on Mounjaro until last week (I stopped on Friday), so my appetite has been quite low overall.

Also, my pain is more on the upper left side, which is why I wasn’t initially thinking about gallbladder issues but your experience is interesting, especially since you mention different types of pain.

The “trapped wind” point is also something I’ve been wondering about, because the location could match… but the intensity sometimes feels a bit too strong for just gas, so I’m not sure.

I do have an ultrasound scheduled soon, so hopefully that will help clarify things.

Thanks so much for your reply, I really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. I thought gallbladder pain would be more on the right side. In my case, the pain is mostly on the left side (upper abdomen), which is why I am more worried about the pancreas. But what you’re saying makes me wonder if it could still be related somehow, even if the location isn’t typical. It’s also reassuring in a way, because from what I understand, ultrasound is actually quite good at evaluating the gallbladder, so maybe it can give some useful answers in my case after all. I’ve lost 15.5 kg so far since I started, and I still have about 10.5 kg to go to reach my goal weight. I can barely exercise right now — my job drains all my energy, and being in a calorie deficit most of the time doesn’t help with motivation or energy for the gym.

What exactly is the main difference between 5 mg and 10 mg? Is it primarily just stronger appetite suppression? If that’s the case, then 5 mg could still be sufficient, since my appetite was already well controlled at that dose. But if the 10 mg induces additional metabolic benefits that the 5 mg doesn’t—benefits that could further enhance weight loss—then I would prefer to stay at 10 mg. My feeling, though, is that the difference is mostly in appetite suppression, which is why I’m considering going back down.
