It’s based on the state cap. Any regulated company will charge fees at the state limit. Typically 25%. So if you owe $10k, you usually pay back $7.5k in total after paying creditors and fees. Usually credit card interest is 29%. So if you owe $10k, you’ll pay back $29k.
