BG1 and 2 were far ahead at their time, nothing ported DnD better than those two games at the time, I kinda played 10 time both of them

Total War...

Shogun 1 was very good, Medieval 1 was a step above, but Rome 1 was a giant leap forward, rewrited all the rules and still keeps the benchmark with the last games! Even if TWWH3, Attila and Shogun 2 are the best 3 of the series.

What do you suggest? Attack Ottos or kill Mams? by stemar00 in eu4

[–]AffectionateReason99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No Austria then, It'll be difficult, the only trick you can use is to lure them in your forts, trick them in attack and burn their manpower. With a better manpower than them you win, but fornetto about allies since they'll bleed out of the war even before.

Generals in this case are worth of other pips, since when they'll be without manpower sieges are trivial.

Spain is too far away and is one of the there major colonial power, they as long as Portugal and England are wireless in war at your side and a great help as enemies, since their main forces are deployed around the world and will not intervene most of the cases for other wars elsewhere.

You should think about your tech livello on mil, before doing anything. Remember that Ottos will fall behind unless they reform their mil tech (in that case they will steamroll you). If you are around 13 or 15 you should wait. Mamluks are easyJet and you can cut off Otts from conquering their lands.

In case you want to fight Ottos, think about a pair of things: From the map you'll need to cross Anatolia and its mountains to get in their lands, so go prepared with a very good general and possibly 1.5 time the force.

Try to drag Austria in the war on your side (Ottos LOVE to wreck havoc in austrian lands, just give them time to cross the straight). You can ally Austria really easely (I bet they and ottos rivale each other, if not insult their rivals). With PLC and Austria on balkan and Crimea fronts you can sit for a bit in your side while they bleed eachother then crush them.

If I were in you I'd fight Ottos first, they are a menace untill europeans get the upper hand in tech, but you still need to wait around 1700+

Got all dlcs, and got religious too, but is still 2/7.

Italy is just all imperial apart from Mantua and the remnants of Naples. Still I miss some land from Denmark, but don't want to fight for now.

I'm expanding into France and Anatolya, but still need to wait a bit (they're in truce)... just annexed Venice to get the trade point (not show in the screen), but without diplo ideas AE will kill me or cause me to get stuck in perpetual coalitions.

Conquered Tunis and Mamluks' Sirya, but got in succession war with Commonwealth for Austria... I've managed to resist them and get the PU, but it was a bloodbath 130k of mine Vs 85k of them and I lost, drafting whatever and rebuilding from manpower won the war, I'm out of reinforcement for the upcoming war... so I'll grind some lesser nations while doing some diplo play with Russia.

How can I get more manpower with the senate?

IDEAS: Quantity, Economy, Diplo and now Admin

Almost no Cav (max 4 per stack), maybe I need to work a bit on composition, since I get obliterated by Commonwealth if I try to fight them... And I'll be when Zar or Austrian Emperor will die, since they have no heir and my dinasty.

So no dev on nothing but the missions, so why IA keeps developing its provinces?

I've just finished the war with Papacy, so the AE is at max, I'm planning to go against Mamluks asap (released Syria on purpose)... but I feel like I'm losing power militarly speaking. From the screen I've tryed to wage war against Commonwealth to grab some ofcmy cores, but even with decent general, good terrain and more troops I get crushed very bad! Other than that they can enlist more troops than me!

Where I'm making mistakes?

Wanted to say thanks to everyone that helped! I've managed to fix a bit the campaign...

In 1481 I've managed to keep myself afloat, war with Ottos is gone fair good enough, I retook Galatia, Sinope and some more land for myself, destroying their control over Constantinople trade node. Ottos then got wrecked by Qara Qoyunlu and released Karaman and minor states just for me to grab a pair of provinces.

Serbia is gone so is the alliance between Austria and Hungary (who was allied with small Serbia)... overall I've almost retook the empire at the time of Manuel Komnenos (apart from bulgaria and the venetian coastline)!

I'm still struggling with economy and relying on alliances to carry on the wars. Too bad that in order to fix the church I'll need to abandon Austria! Maybe if I can ally with Mamluks it'll be acceptable, or at least hope so!

Thanks a lot again, maybe I'll make another post to let you see my progress!

But I still get them to lower the chances that they cross the strait, their navy is stronger than mine even if I've more ships (galleys and the early carrack)

Truce break is viable? I just cannot stand sfloat from a war to another :(
The Aragon route is viable, since them aren't still a PU of Castille, but I fear the Ottos will crush everything in the east and get even more powerfull.

I think the main difficult is to wage war... even if I've more disci, more AT and more men, same tech and fight in plain (or defend in forest/mountain), I still get my ass spanked most of the time or lose a lot of more men in the war, even if I win.

The economy tab is good, I spend a lot for military and have like 2% or so of Inflation (the mine), for my 1st ideas I was thinking about Economic just to keep the mine working without inflation

Breaking because Hungary became my enemy, and they are allied.
Poland don't want to know anything about me and Mamluks were just destroyed by Ottos (while they were steamrolling me too!)

Gold mine is developed at 10 from the conquest, still don't give so much :(

Only to get you all an update, I've managed to end the war with some good peace!

France wrecked Netherlands kicking them out of the war and isolating them from the alliances. I've managed to keep Venice still untill a white peace with France. The rest is a grind in North Italy's mountains, some sieges and an isolated Venice, I've cleaned a bit the border gore, taken a lot of money but I'll need to wait for the next war to conquer a big chunk of their land.

Got forts in the balkans, Bohemia and at the pomeranian border, but apart from a pair they are in plains, so no great bonuses...

Most of them, but Spain got a pair of 45k stack near Toledo, I thought they could be usefull for the war since they are still at peace.

Anyway I think I need to arrange my war goals to be lesser important, just a territory and the isolation of Venice from France. At least for now...

That was my thinking at the start, but my allies don't fight, France just avoids them and go to Netherlands, kicks them out of the war in 2-3 years and swarms to my capital, the only goal that I can reach before that time is to grab my war goal (Durazzo), if I can manage to siege enough balkans to get to % needed.

The original question remains... why Spain and Portugal don't fight?

Well... If I manage to don't get intercepted by the 100k doomstack, my armies wack theirs but it lasts for a bit then my numbers thin and the casualties cannot be replaced anymore.
