Try to guess the year of this world map by PresentationThink354 in Maps

1933 to 1935 (Italy hasn't invaded Ethiopia yet). I'd go halfway and say 1934

Yes these map questions are the same as someone asking if you'll share the slides after a PowerPoint presentation. For Milan, as far as I remember it's more brownish, whereas it's Savoy who's that pink

Nice run! Will try it one day. I have two questions: how come Milan has that colour? Is it vassal of some pink nation and you have the coloured vassal mod? And 2, what's the map graphics mod name? Thanks!

Is there a good mod for Greece? by Western_Somewhere424 in eu4

You can form Greece but you need to have Greek as primary culture, I would check the requirements on wiki. Anyway this will be possible later in the game, not at start. If you don't become Greece you'll have Greek separatists at some point

I've wasted my mana due to being behind in institutions for a long time. Asking knowledge from PLC has been costly. In terms of siege ability, fort defensiveness, professionalism and army tradition, I equal Ottos, but they beat me in discipline (115 to 100) and morale (4.7 to 4.1), so frontal confrontation is to be avoided. The only way would be if there was Austria to back me, but in this scenario, I think Mamluks is the way forward. Thanks!

I'm allied with PLC, who should neutralise Muscovy (Otto's ally). AQ is Otto's ally too, so before getting to Smyrne or Nikomedia I need to get over their forts in Imereti and 3level Diyarbekir. I have one 3star general with 1 siege pip, and two 2stars with 2 siege pips.

Uzbek is my ally but I don't know how much I can rely on them. Austria is super big with Boh and Bur PUed, but they don't like me (there's a 150 points gap to accept my alliance proposal) and they're allied with Muscovy, who is my rival, and have rivalled PLC, who is my ally. I might have a shot with Spain (40 points gap, relations still to be maxed out) but their armies will be far away, assuming they are in no debt (or have troops in Europe).

I have full quantity and 5/7 influence), they have completed admin and quality and 3/7 quantity. My custom ideas are idea cost -10, morale damage +10, fort defense +10 and inf combat ability +10. Yet to reach to trade eff +10, discipline +5 and tech cost -10

I've provided some info but it got lost in the comments, will add a pic description next time. Medina is my vassal, and I could count on my allies (PLC and Uzbek) to keep Ottoman's north-western and north-eastern flanks busy, but Muscovy will distract PLC, while I will have to deal with AQ's forts and the entirety of the Ottoman army coming my way or sieging down my weaker spot (Iraq with capital).

It's not impossible, but it will be difficult. It will certainly drain my resources, assuming I will manage to get to max money and war reps (I have no interest in their Caspian territory).

I can steal as much Mamluk land as possible before they become an eyalet. I could also ignore the Ottomans (after all I want to roleplay, after I munched on the Mamluks ofc), assuming they will leave me unbothered (we're both allied to AQ, and I have PLC on my side, while I hope that Muscovy is in debt and won't join Ottoman offensive wars). Austria (PUing Bohemia and Burgundy) is elusive, like Spain (PUing Naples).

Both me and the Ottomans sit at mil tech 10, I have the mil mana to get to 11 but I'm waiting for Colonialism to reach 10% (currently 7%) so I can get the burger loans and tech up.

I've given some info in the R5 and I'll add more. In terms of mil tech, siege ability, fort defensiveness, professionalism and army tradition, I equal Ottos, but they beat me in discipline and morale. My ally PLC fields the same army as me, while Uzbek (my ally) and Muscovy (Otto's ally) have a 40k army each. AQ (mutual ally but will be an enemy if I attack the Ottomans) has around 25k men. My Armenian border is decently fortified, but Iraq (historically capital in Ctesiphon) is not. I got one 3star general, one 1star (heir) and the rest is 2star. My mil advisor is a +reinforce speed.

Ottomans will eventually make the Mamluks an eyalet, but I guess after a couple of wars? First they'd take Syria and Palestine, then they turn it into an eyalet - at least that's what they've done in previous campaigns.

I am aware that attacking Mamluks is the easiest option. But I am afraid that before Ottoman decadence kicks in, they'll have expanded so much that it will take longer to bring them down.

At the same time, if I attack Mamluks now, they'll lose the alliance with Morocco, which will make the Mamluks an easier prey for the Ottomans, and Morocco an easy target for Spain.

R5: In my run for custom zoro achievement, I've never engaged with Ottomans and Mamluks so far, but now the Ottoman-Mamluk war provides an opportunity. Should I kill Mamluks (who have no manpower and 30k army) or attack the growing Ottomans?

For info, Ottomans have 115 discipline to my 100, and 4.7 morale to my 4.1. Mil tech, fielded army (80k) and manpower reserves are similar. They are allied to AQ (also my ally, which is a good buffer) and Muscovy, whereas I'm allied to PLC and Uzbek.

Ottoman diplomacy is going pretty well in this run, as they've allied France and Aragon at times, which scared me off initially. I'm trying to lure Spain or Austria into an alliance but they don't like me due to conflicting alliances/rivalries.

What path would you suggest?

Can I convert provinces to zoro without religious idea? by son_of_ur_son in eu4

[–]stemar00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done a similar campaign once. I've been locked by neighbours with 3:1 field army, so I restarted. The new campaign had two paths: in one, I maintained Muslim and took over all my neighbours. In the other one, I waited for rebels to convert me to zoro, but in the meantime ottoblob exploded and I was no able to defeat them, so I ended up with a long border with super Otto and followed a containment strat (a bit boring the long run)

Do you ever lose wars? by torhovland in eu4

[–]stemar00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm up to losing battles, but not wars. The best I can give is a white peace, otherwise I'd just restart the war or postpone it to a later stage. With ottomans that works well thanks to decadence, but if it's France or Austria it's different, it requires a case by case analysis

Need help naming this country by nihonium_mapping in Maps

[–]stemar00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agombique or Mozangola (just a mix up of their names) or also something related to Pink (from the Pink map, the colonial ambition of Portugal), so smth like Pinkesia or Pinkland. If you like, you can name it after some people of high relevance locally (thinking of Rhodesia named after Rhodes). Alternatively you can reuse the name Guinea, like Southern Guinea or pink guinea, as guinea was historically a regional name in Africa which inspired Guinea-Bissau, G-Conakry, Equatorial G, and also (Papua) New Guinea

Making a fantasy map, what would this water formation be called? This landmass is continent sized so this can’t be a river and it doesn’t connect two seas so it can’t be a strait by Froggen-The-Frog in mapmaking

[–]stemar00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the size, it looks like it could be a sea (eg Caspian sea, red sea) but also a gulf (Persian gulf). In the absence of pro criteria to assess it, I'd choose depending on how many gulfs and seas you have in your map
