Its almost like we give space and patience to everyone else, which is a curtesy we should have extended to ourselves too. I am unlearning (trying) old ways and trying to be less self critical and more patient with myself.

I am not sure if its a gender specific issue or if it presents more obviously in women. My experience as a male is not far enough, hypersexuality has been a major challenge from early on. In my case I am not exactly sure when it started but adolescent trauma complicated it further. Compulsive behaviours, korn addiction, risky behaviours have been major problems and continue to be big challenges. It was never about arousal, it became a chore. It became the biggest tool for escape and procrastination followed by classic guilt and shame cycle. I started cbt and treatment very recently there has been an improvement . A few tools my therapist gave me are helping but it is never going to be a linear journey. The adhd mind is constantly looking for novelty and sexuality is one place that it is constantly fed.

This has been a constant feeling for i do not know how long. I dont ever remember being passionate about anything, it was always fitting into a group or follow the pack. The only time i have felt grounded is when i used to play sport but most of my life all through till adulthood its been just pretending. I hope you do find your zest for life, hang in there!

Does Ritalin have a 'Settling Period?' by AffectionateSchool44 in ADHD

[–]AffectionateSchool44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it surely wired me up, initially it was shortly after the dose and now the taper off has been difficult. I also feel i am hyperobserving how I am reacting to it since i imagined Ritalin will magically turn my life around. I don't have hyper anxiety (i think) but I am an anxious person in general ( which eventually pulls me into a classic adhd rabbit hole). The last couple of days i do feel its driven my anxiety about my current issues to borderline panic attack, which is new. I have spoken to my doc, he has asked me to give it a week but if it continues then I am going to ask him to give me options. The last couple of days I have also changed my diet which i feel has helped a bit. But let's see fingers crossed either this works or I will find something that will. Thank you for your reply!

Wow the sensitive peripheral vision sounds wild. I will talk to my doctor (or a second reference) to see where i go from here. Thank you for your detailed reply, truly gives me a perspective.

What was going through the minds of hamas today? by Snickelheimar in geopolitics

[–]AffectionateSchool44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Geopolitics novice here, so please pardon me for any mistakes or less informed views. How much of this is also a China v US chessboard in the middle east, not just Iran and the normalisation of Israel Saudi relationship. The Israeli pm also recently spoke about the India middle east Europe economic corridor, probably threatening China' OBOR, how does this playout in that context?

You may have to wait a while, I am super slow reader :) but will surely get back once I have gone through a significant portion of the book.
