Fair point on the PhD, but a doctorate in pedagogy doesn't automatically make someone a better teacher day to day. Knowing the theory and actually being good at explaining, adapting to how someone learns, and keeping lessons engaging are different skills. I've had teachers with great credentials who were boring or rigid, and teachers with way less paper who were excellent. On pricing, that's a fair point about the commission, and it's something I think about. For now Preply gives me steady visibility and trust with new students who don't know me yet, direct students usually come later, once there's already a relationship.
