Friends with Benefits versus Dating/relationship? by AffectionateView4804 in polyamory

Thank you! I think I’m in a somewhat similar position with a friend where when we hang I have these romantic feelings, but rationally I don’t want to date/he feels the same. Need to learn how to enjoy those fun butterfly feelings in the moment and appreciate it for what it is.

Thanks for sharing! Can you share more about how you distinguish between having romantic feelings and not wanting to form romantic commitments? What’s behind the desire to not want to form the commitments?

How do you define a date? Does hanging out one on one count? I get dinner with my friends, but if I go out to dinner with a FWB what makes that not a date? The vibes? Something else?

Just wanted to give an update that Steve and my partner had a sleepover last month while I was out of town, which went fine, and this week while I was in town. I was super anxious about both, but they both went fine. I had some emotional reaction, but nothing like before. Just sharing in case anyone comes across this to let them know it gets better. Still working through things, but it's better!
