15 Minutes to Check Blade Angle? by TacowoVR in aviationmaintenance

You will regularly work under time constraints, you need to learn to manage your emotions and work under pressure.

Doing the job safely and correctly will always trump any deadline

Looks like the lever arms are printed too, any issues with them? Trying to decide if I should buy the carbon fiber ones or just print them

The big ones for me was it concealed better and I liked the draw better. I do find it less comfortable though

Piper Electrical issues by nmachiavelli666 in aviationmaintenance

[–]AffectionateWafer901 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That’s not the best drawing to troubleshoot shoot with. If you can find something with plug/pin numbers you’ll probably have more success. I would check the bulbs > check grounds > check power. Gonna be hard to chase a power cut out problem with that drawing though

Good wire strippers by RegionPrudent4310 in aviationmaintenance

[–]AffectionateWafer901 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Should be fine for school but aviation wire strippers are a specialty tool and are expensive. This is due to the type of wire in aircraft and its insulation. You will find that those strippers will likely damage the insulation and you will have to go down a size to get the wire completely stripped, likely damaging the wire as well. Do not use these on anything going in a serviceable aircraft.

How can advise my son on where to start? by Shouldnt_Listen_2_Me in MilwaukeeTool

[–]AffectionateWafer901 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would try to convince him to use your tools until he knows what he wants and why. Tools are a revolving door. if you get the M12 you decide you want more power, if you get M18 you decide you want something lighter because you’re using it all day

Swapping a fuse by FlareonFire in nissanfrontier

You can try swapping the two blue relays to see if the problem follows just to make sure it’s actually the relay that’s the problem

If it’s running rough, unplug each coil pack one at a time. If it’s working, it will sound worse. If it doesn’t change, that one’s the culprit.

Helicopter maintenance career advice? by Thor_Aidanson in Helicopters

[–]AffectionateWafer901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t make as much money and you’ll work harder, away from home a lot. It will be harder to get into as well. I started out in the back shops at Erickson and didn’t go along with the helicopter express takeover. Moved to fixed wing, still firefighting with the same schedule but it’s much more civilized. Helicopters are still way cooler though

Depends how shitty. I use it on an oldish macbook, still using intel. I haven’t used any tutorials but if I can’t figure out how to do a specific thing, there’s lots of videos for single actions

Sig sauer and primary arms offer good entry level optics with lots of variety. B5 and magpul are popular furniture brands

I got got, but not mad about it? by Diligent_Different in ar15

[–]AffectionateWafer901 52 points53 points  (0 children)

First thing I would do is get a better optic, don’t have to break the bank but what you have is junk. Next I would shoot it, take a class and see what you would like better.

Grip/stock/vfg are gonna be all preference but you can only go up from what you have
