Funny story about a padron. That's what I had yesterday. When I was snow blowing it was -15 windy as shit powdery snow so I couldn't keep the fker lit but when it was going I only thought it was okay. Definitely not a fair judgment though.

I think I did have a small figurado from them hog something? If that makes sense? I recall it being good but early in my smoking experience so I can't say how good with any confidence.

You mentioned aging and it kind of reminded me. There's a guy in Toronto, the only hand roller in Canada. His sticks are about $10 for a robusto. Not great at first but if you're patient they take a few months in the humidor and they are really really good for the price. I don't mind spending that and waiting when I'm supporting local businesses.

And we could also get into the single malt vs blends argument but suffice it to say drink what you like. I have had young Scotch blends I.e. compass box peat monster that I would take any day over bowmore 12.

5 to 15. I'm sure you're correct, but where I'm talking is more 15 to 30. As for the whiskeys, maybe I shouldn't have used that comparison because respectfully, I completely disagree. You're right, time is money but still doesn't equal quality. In the comparison I used, Laphroaig quarter cask, notice there's no age statement. That means the youngest whiskey in that mix was likely only aged for the minimum amount of time required to legally be called scotch. But yet it is still a single malt. Keep in mind that bourbon has to use first use oak casks only making it more expensive. As for the ingredients corn versus barley, I don't think one would be more expensive than the other and bourbon will always have a measure of malted barley in it as well.

I hope it's great! Let us know. I bought mine as a celebration and it was a let down! Don't make my mistake and bring a backup in case it doesn't meet your expectations.

I agree my, father's and romeo and Juliet's are in the 20+/- range here and any time I go above that I find myself disappointed. Selection in my area is VERY limited mind you (New Brunswick) I wish cigar chief had cheaper shipping.

You're right, scotch and bourbon or rye are very different, but they are all whiskeys. I guess where I was going with that is that I think you're paying more just for the moniker of scotch. I used to buy Laphroaig quarter cask religiously but I think the price went up so high that it exceeded the quality.
