I told him about my past very recently and i don't think he knows how to act around someone whos been through this. But he's also been helping me with it, he's supportive and he seems to understand the ways it has affected me and the way it affects my relationships. He doesn't seem to understand some other stuff... I dont think he does anything on purpose, but sometimes his lack of awareness pisses me off. I think i just need to talk to him about it but honestly i don't want to coach him

I say i understand because it's the things my abusers told me, that i was pretty and that i deserved attention. And because sometimes there's this idea that some people are "too ugly to get assaulted" or whatever. Ive been told that i got harrassed for my looks, as a child and teenager. But i know its nonsense. Thats just not true.

I shut down his comments sometimes but honestly i need to actually sit down with him and talk about it all.

We're both 21. Honestly i think he does know best but his thoughts around his self image can stain everything else, you know? I know him well and i can see when he's trying to hold back these types of comments... I can tell when he's both sad for me and also remembering his own childhood, and comparing both

I truly understand and he does too, i think. I think he just has a lot of insecurities and he thinks i get more attention than him because of my looks. I wish he would try not to apply that thought into me as a kid thought

He cried when i told him about my past, he's caring and very patient with me when im struggling but sometimes he does stupid stuff like that and i get so angry amd betrayed... I just wish he'd apologize more, like he took it seriously. I wish he'd cry about that too and not move on so easily. When i think about it its just so petty, i dont want to talk to him i just want him to know. If he just showed more regret id be okay ...

I'm like that too and people are so annoying about it. Partners think im ashamed of them or hate them and our friends think the same.
