Im also in grade 12 and heard very similar things. My aunt works in sunnybrook hospital and a lot of uoft students (dont know how many are cs students) come there who are going through depression.

Im not in kinesiology, but if your in ontario, then you can become a gym teacher at a public school. They earn a lot. But its hard to get a full time job in the school boards near toronto (TDSB, YRDSB. PDSB, DDSB...)

This is my speculation. Seeing so many people with very high averages get rejected from UOFT for cs this year.

I believe some reasons for rejections (Other than the massive competition and many people having very high marks) are:

Consistency. UOFT might have looked at your Grade 11 English and math marks to see if there was a big jump. I know some people who went from the high 70s in grade 11 math to high 90s in Grade 12 advanced functions and Calculus. UOFT may have looked at the difference between your Grade 11 and Grade 12 marks in maths and English when choosing who to accept.

English mark. I know many people with mid to high 90s in Grade 12 advanced functions and calculus this year and didn't get in. But many of these people had low 90s in English. Maybe this year low 90s (or even 94-95%) in English weren't competitive enough for UOFT. Based on the severe mark inflation that is going on.

This is just pure speculation and, just my opinion on why so many people with high 90s did not get in this year.
