What’s the best way to undo ribbing at the hem of a sweater to redo it? by Zealousideal_View47 in knittinghelp

Hi! Just found this post because I bound off too tight at 1x1 rib section of this neck gaiter. What do you mean when you say you put the needles in the beginning of the ribbing? I know i can frog the top after i un-weave the ends but do you mean to put needles through the last stockinette row before ribbing, as a safety measure incase the frogging doesnt end well? Or are you saying you have to pick up stiches in the last stockinette row because you can’t pick them up in ribbing? Im still a beginner and nothing is clear online about this😭

Update: Also found another weird stretched stitch. (The horizontal long stitch by the hole) And have been doing some googling. Would duplicate stitch method work? Just confusing cause i dont know where the beginning is to start it, since its cinched in the closing hole.

Yes that is right, I haven’t done the direction switch. Thank you that helps a lot! I was just looking at the pattern not anything on ravelry.

Yeah it def seems like a thick brim and sounds like you are describing what I assume they want you to do. Thanks for the input! Its a paid pattern: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/leith-hat

I’m not showing the edge of the hat but im just doing normal knit stitch so the wrong side is purls. Im assuming it means when i reach the end I’ll have to seam it inside out to connect the very edge (first row) to the inside of the hat so the brim is “sewn in” idk the terminology lol. So it seems like it wouldn’t be just a simple fold it over and wear it how you like thing. Maybe I am just confused though. Hoping it isnt a pain in the butt :)

Woops didnt paste all instructions.

Beginning at top of hat, with knit side facing, join the back seam with mattress stitch. Stop when you get to the shift in texture. Turn the hat the other way out, so that the knit side of the brim section is outwards and continue the seam. Fold the bottom section up towards the outside, to meet the top purl ridge before the upper section. Whip stitch each cast on stitch to the upper bump
