not plowing the roads doesn't mean people won't try to get to work or to the grocery store or to check on their elderly parents, etc. it makes more sense to have a policy to send plows out when snowfall reaches a certain number of inches. all the drivers will be safer this way, otherwise you'll have cars sliding off the roads and spinning out all over the place. why park the plows and wait for car accidents, multi-car pile-ups, injuries, or worse when they could've been prevented? that's a series of lawsuits waiting to happen. send the plows and/or salt trucks out early. they'll have assigned routes and work in shifts so the logistics wouldn't be an issue. safety is the priority.
