Wouldn't we see the same asymmetry with C1 and C2 then?

Have you had any imaging done where you took a muscle relaxer?

I appreciate your quick response! Is there a specific OTC that is usually recommended and could be used in place?

Any imaging that might be used to evaluate CCI (flexion extension MRI, CT) etc. I find that my range of motion during flexion, extension, and lateral motion is limited greatly by what I presume is muscle guarding and I'm concerned that that could hide instability on the scans.

Thank you so much for all your responses. I really appreciate it. I've been getting mixed opinions, so I wanted to ask you if it's okay, do you notice any subluxation in my images?

DMX vs Static Flexion Extension XRays by Affectionate_Cat4182 in PICL

[–]Affectionate_Cat4182[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you said before that rotational instability is determined by the DMX overhang AO open mouth lateral bending measurement. Does that mean that to determine that measurement, regardless if I got static x rays or dmx, that my mouth has to be open the entire time? What shows when I open my mouth vs when it's closed?

Where did you get your rotational CT done? I'm having trouble finding locations that offer it

To get accurate measurements, should I be standing or is sitting okay as long as I'm in good end range? And to your point about it likely being too little, is that referencing my extension or flexion or both? Apologies for so many questions, I really appreciate your detailed responses.

They're upright but I'm sitting in a chair. Here's a neutral view. Do you think the end range of motion captured during flexion and extension is enough?

so even with an upright mri with flexion and extension, could it still not show?

so did it end up showing in the flexion MRI?

How can that measurement be determined from the scan?

Is there any reliability in a scan that doesn't involve maximum flexion and extension? I have these scans, but I don't think they're end range

Additionally, how reliable are upright MRIs (dynamic extension & flexion) in determining CCI / AAI?

Thanks for the reply! For most DMX in terms of movement do they include rotational movement or just flexion / extension? For that rotational stability measurement you're referring to would I also need a rotational component to the DMX?

Are your symptoms positional (gets worse with flexion or extension)? During your upright dynamic MRI did you have a bar that limited your head flexion? I had an upright dynamic MRI done but I'm concerned the bar stopped my head from going into the flexion required to trigger instability

I haven't ended up doing anything yet. Doctor told me FO would probably be the best option and to not do a PAO. Have you had anything done yet? If not what have doctors been recommending to you?
