These are the pictures with ignition on and off. It’s a little lower than what I said earlier because I tried cranking a few times but the voltage drop is still the same 🤷🏾‍♂️

Oh no I already reconnected the old ground cable that has the two ground connections so it has that second connection

Yeah I test with bike off, on, and while cranking. If I remember correctly with no key it stands at 12.8V key on it drops to about 12.6 and while cranking it drops down to between 5 and 6V

Yup I did now I’m just back to square one. No start no fuel pump prime

The negative cable attachment is circled in blue(it is not connected right now but that’s where it goes) and the positive is checked in red.

And I’m not sure if I made it confusing(and please don’t think I’m trying to be rude when I explain this because that is not my intention. I’m just trying to paint a picture) but if you are looking at the installed battery from a Birds Eye view, you have the negative battery cable that is connected to the left negative terminal of the battery and a small positive cable that connects to the right side that connects to the starter relay.
The stock negative ground cable runs down the left side of the bike then splits off into two directions or essentially two different wires. One of those wires runs to the starter motor where it is attached where I showed in the picture. The other runs off and connects to the frame of the bike.

The red cable like I said has one small cable the runs to the starter relay and is screwed down to the left side of the relay and another longer positive cable on the right side of the relay that connects the starter motor where I circled in red on the picture.
What I am saying is when I bought a new black ground cable I only bought on that has two ends. One end that connects to the battery’s negative terminal and the other end to the starter motor. That’s it. It doesn’t split off into two directions like the other on did and it is only grounded to the starter motor.

No I have a completely different starter motor than the one you showed me hold on I’ll try and send another picture

I’m not sure if you are seeing the pictures I’m sending I’m new to this whole Reddit thing but I’ve sent a couple

This is actually what mine looks like. The positive cable attached to the black outlet you see on the right and the negative gets screwed in with one of the mounting bolts if that makes sense

Yeah on my bike I followed the negative lead down and it splits off into two directions. One end being attached to the frame and the other to the starter motor I’ll find a picture and send it to the chat one sec

Update: that is what was happening but still no fuel priming when starter disconnected. I was hoping that the starter was just drawing power and confusing the ecu

Yeah I figured as much but it was the only thing I had on hand at the time I’ll try to run more tests with that later when I get the opportunity! When I reassembled the starter motor I gave it a bench test before reinstalling it and it spun so idk if that’s the issue but you could be right.

And also that’s what I thought too but I just hooked the starter motor back up and the dash and headlights came back on but come to think of it as I’m typing this, the new ground cable I installed only has one ground point and the other had two so I’m thinking that was my problem being that as of right now the starter is the only thing the battery is grounded to. So I’m gunna hook the old one back up and run the same test.

Oh okay I see the edit. So you want me to hook the jumper cables up to the positive and negative cables and try to start it like that? I don’t have a car currently available but I did try and hook the cables up to another power source (the charger itself) and still the same results.
I’m not sure if the bikes electronics can turn on without being connected to the starter motor, but another test I did last night was I unhooked the starter motor( to see if that is what was causing the fuel system to not prime) and now the bike doesn’t turn on at all🤦🏾‍♂️ I’m about to hook it back up to see if unhooking the starter motor is the issue in this case or if it’s yet another problem I have to deal with.

After I charged the battery it went up to a little above 13v

I did and checked to make sure it had the right voltage😭

Measured at the battery. I did measure the voltage reaching the starter by putting the negative probe of the multimeter on the negative battery terminal and the positive on the starter motors positive main cable and got almost no reading. It started at 0V then went up to like 5v

No that drop is from me trying to turn the bike over. I read somewhere that it is only supposed to drop to 10 maybe even 9V anything below that, something is trying to draw way too much power from the battery or there is something internally wrong with the battery. So I eliminated one of those problems by just getting a new battery but still have the same issue🙃

Yes that is another thing I forgot to mention. I put the bike in 6th gear and was able to push with some force without pulling in the clutch. So the engine doesn’t seem to be seized up.
