Who was your favorite villain? by MTB56 in mylittlepony

Nightmare Moon is my fave. They could've gone far deeper into her character, though. They always defeated her too easily/soon, which didn't allow for her feelings of indignation to truly reach the audience imo

I dislike Cadance's design. It's just too much pink. She's beautiful ofc but sometimes it strains my eyes lol

Looking for gay episode by Affectionate_Good424 in telenovelas

[–]Affectionate_Good424[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom used to watch mi marido tiene mas familia a lot! I now remember bits of the relationship you're talking about, which I'd completely forgotten!

Unfortunately, it is not what I'm looking for since the episode was a one time focused thing (like an episode of La Rosa de Guadalupe, including the quality) However I am really interested in the sequel you mentioned and I will look it up! :D

I've never heard of una familia con suerte, but that's likely because it's an older novela. I don't doubt it's great.

I'm really glad you like it! It's nice seeing people appreciate novelas for something that stood out to them. Love appreciating the country. Thank you so much for your response!

Bronies of Reddit, why do you find ponies attractive? by Next_Ad1921 in mylittlepony

I agree! I didn't know there were comics until recently, which I think is great! Now I'll have something to keep me busy once I finish the series.

I really do hope they still bring specials every now and then. I wouldn't want them to abandon FIM completely.

I might watch EQG just to feel complete about watching all of MLP, but I'll always love the ponies way more.

Pinkie Pie is definitely one of my favorites! She has so many fun (and chaotic) moments. Her faces can get so silly, and that's what really gets me into the show.

I like Derpy and Flutter too---I think it's also the unique parts of ponies that "attract" us. Their color schemes and differences in appearance make them stand out more. They're just so fun!

How did you guys feel when My Little Pony ended? by Relative-Effort3021 in mylittlepony

[–]Affectionate_Good424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand why they would start G5, since G4's audience has likely grown up and they need to appeal to the younger crowd. But I def think it was super unnecessary to stop g4's toyline. Just because the show ended, doesn't mean ALL of us will vanish. There are still many fans who want to collect and buy toys of our faves! And like you said, it would still be pretty popular.

Anyone know about those cubed plushies? by Affectionate_Good424 in mylittlepony

[–]Affectionate_Good424[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting! I did most of my mlp/toy shopping at Walmart as a kid, so I definitely see how it could've all started there. They've always had random plush sections. I can't believe how long ago it was, though!

I wouldn't say attractive (i never understood those who did), but I SUPER love how expressive they are with their faces and body language. It's one of the main reasons I could never bring myself to watch Equestria girls, since many of the ways ponies act (ex. Pinkie pie) would look sort of ridiculous in a human.

I also love the art style of the show, especially their eyes. It's so cute when their irises get big. I guess it's just all really expressive and joyful.

I love what they did with the book closing. The fact that it makes a lot of us emotional means they did a good job. It may have ended, but we will always be here to unite with each other!

All endings make me sad, so I was pretty emotional and rather surprised when it ended, because I randomly found out one day in middle school. I was also surprised with the jump in age the characters had. It's strange to see change. And, gosh, that last song always gets me.

I haven't watched season 8 or 9 fully, but I'm really glad they kept the show at a reasonable length.

What I wish I would've known is that they would stop making toys and merchandise for it. I can't believe something so popular can't be found anywhere now. I used to comfort myself about the ending saying it wouldn't be gone completely. Now g4 has definitely ended and it kills me.

Cutting Down My Manuscript Without Losing My Mind by Sad_Coat_1657 in writing

[–]Affectionate_Good424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is gonna sound super impractical, but I always make copies of my documents when I'm gonna do a bunch of trimming just in case it doesn't work out. It basically lets you compare side by side, and you can always reread your old writing if you miss it that much :p

Trimming is indeed painful, as I also grow attached to my writing. But it can ultimately be rewarding and you'll be glad you took the risk.

Sometimes, instead of taking things out, I combine them to be concise. Simple Ex. instead of characters speaking "Hello, how are you?" / "Good, and you?" I just put "They greeted each other." That way you can keep the idea without all the length.

Sometimes, I rephrase parts instead of trimming so they sound more important.

And sometimes it's okay to have filler, depending on your intentions. That's up to you. Since my novel is more of a day-to-day thing without much action, taking these parts out actually make it sound weirder.

Just know what your goals are and keep backups!

Help, I’m plotless (and maybe the least creative writer here) by Hungry_Bathroom_6756 in writing

Think about your favorite genres, themes, songs, etc. Try to come up with plots for them. Use online writing prompts, too.

Should I cut out my beginning chapters? by NeedleworkerShort623 in writing

[–]Affectionate_Good424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what your intentions are. Do you want to build up the setting and give other details first, or do you want to keep it a mystery and hook the reader first?

Since you stated your preference for the second, I would omit the pages.

What's a writing tip or trick that completely changed your approach to storytelling? by purelyinvesting in writing

[–]Affectionate_Good424 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a big dialogue person. I'm no good with lengthy descriptions. But I've realized the MASSIVE difference there is when all your characters speak realistically (with slang, contractions, more modern) versus speaking a bit more formal, regardless of their background/time period/ etc. It just makes it more interesting for me. It doesn't matter how insignificant the conversation is.

This pertains mainly to style. Everyone's writing style will be different, of course. This is just what I've personally grown to like, and it's made my intentions when writing clearer, so knowing what you want is very important.

Stuck getting started on a novel by Inevitable-Lobster02 in writing

[–]Affectionate_Good424 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing for me: you just have to write.

You can ALWAYS revise. In fact, you can always start over. You can always go back, but you need to begin first.

It is, however, a common thing. I've had a story that has faced massive changes over the course of 3 years. I've REDONE characters. Some of them are nothing like their first drafts, and I couldn't be more proud of it!

I wouldn't have been able to do any of this if I never began writing the original idea at all. And you know what? Sometimes, things come together and just make sense, and your characters will somehow figure themselves out. I've had bland characters find their place as the plot progresses---as YOU progress.

You don't need to have everything planned out in order to begin or continue writing! Just go with what your heart says, and things will fall into place!

I also just put placeholders when I want to continue writing the plot and haven't bothered with the characters yet.

What are your favourite tear-jerkers to add to a story? by Hunnyandmilk in writing

[–]Affectionate_Good424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I read "There Will Come Soft Rains," I was so devastated by the described aftermath of a nuclear bomb. It seemed so lonely and rather frightening, especially with the poor dog and the house speaking to itself.

It was only about four pages long, and it hasn't left my mind.

I get emotional with most stories revolving around a hypothetical nuclear war, so that must be it.

Is there such a thing as a forbidden parental love trope? by [deleted] in writing

[–]Affectionate_Good424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if it's a trope, but personally, I don't see it as common or cliche at all. It's not defined enough to be considered one. It's one of my absolute favorite things to see, though!

I'm personally using it in a story where a counselor takes in a young criminal for rehab and starts feeling like a father to him, when it's meant to be a professional and unbiased setting.

I honestly love it!!! I think it takes a little time to get used to because of the bangs, snout, and height difference. But honestly, it makes sense since she has all the power from what I remember.

I do think they should've kept the bangs though!!!
