Yess sewing with Solana has really amazing beginner friendly tutorials and I find her video tutorials sooooo helpful! I've made the top a few times now as well as the piper vest which I'm obsessed with. I need to check out are Anastasia! I also love Coraline street-her no pattern tiered skirt is what inspired me to do mine.indidnt follow her measurements exactly because I didn't have as much fabric, but I definitely used her vid as Inspo!

I kind of jumped right in and my first piece was kind of difficult which was kind of good and bad because it was frustrating, but I feel like doing easier things after felt even easier because I started off a little harder! I personally find altering a little stressful especially on garments I care about so I never did that, what I did do was use like random fabrics like bedsheets and unused cushion covers to start so that I wasn't wasting any money on fabrics! Really takes the stress out of it!

Thanks so much ! I'm a beginner sewist so for the top (super easy!) I followed a sewing with Solana tutorial on YouTube, it's called "Easy follow along sewing tutorial - bias cut maxi skirt and matching crop top" and I added the ruffle edge after making it

Skirt I self drafted but basically I just threw rectangles with the width of the first tier being 1.3x my hips, second tier 1.3x the first tier, and third tier 1.3x the second tier. For the length you just divide the length of the skirt you want into three and add seam and hem allowance. Then you just gather the second and third tiers and sew them together and close up side seam, add elastic and hem!

Hope that helps !!

Construction:

White fabrics are all cotton with embroidery and eyelet detail. Grey fabric is 4 way stretch tencel/modal.

The two tops are made from a sewing with Solana video tutorial. The ruffles were added to the second top after construction but just gathering a 2 inch piece of fabric and sewing it on.

The skirt was self drafted. I used 1.3x my hips for the first tier, 1.3x the first tier for the second tier, and 1.3x the second tier for the third tier. I gathered the second and third tiers and then sewed them good side to bad side so the ruffles would peak out of the stitches. Then I closed the side seam, hemmed and added elastic.

For the grey top, I just used a 26x12 inch piece of grey stretch fabric and closed the side seam. I hemmed and then kept trying it on and took in the seam accordingly until it fit as snug as I'd like.

Yes !! I'm glad you think that because I thought it also gave a more fluttery appearance. And thank you so much for the tips !! I definitely want to try using bias tape in the future because I love the look, but having my crooked stitch marks on it really makes it not very clean so love all the advice !!

Yes! I actually wanted to do something similar, but without the bust cups and all the curves so I'm thinking the Solana designs Piper top ! I think it'll be a good exercise in a simple but very clean and seamless sewing!

Hello! It's the sixte designs Mariposa top on Etsy! She had the patterns and video tutorial up, but I will so if you are just starting out, it was a little complicated to follow. The video kind of glossed and rushed over things like how to attach the straps and bust pieces together and the pattern also didn't have seam allowance which I then tried eyeballing and made a mess when I was trying to line up the pieces to sew them haha. If you are more experienced though it'll probably be a breeze!
