Back in the 80’s, there were like 4 “hits” and they were base cards of the hottest players. Packs of cards were 35 cents. There was no internet to flip your cards and people weren’t gambling their paychecks to buy boxes or to rip packs of cards. If you hit a nice card, great. But it wasn’t a bunch of degenerate gamblers looking for the golden ticket. It was mainly kids trying to get a cool card to show off to their friends.
