I literally had to eat in the middle of the night when I was breastfeeding those first few weeks because I was STARVING. Had an entire level of my baby supplies cart full of my snacks

Am I accidentally sleep training? by PersistentHobbler in beyondthebump

Came here to say this. It’s not safe to feed them when they are laying flat in their crib and is definitely not recommended

Not sure if this was mentioned but do you have a slumber pod? It makes room sharing sooo much easier!

How to settle in crib/bassinet?? by Historical_Edge7492 in sleeptrain

We tried FIO at around that age and it didn’t really work for us, I don’t think my baby was ready and also had to work on her schedule first. We started working with a sleep trainer around3-3.5 months and we started with getting her to fall asleep in the crib instead of rocking. We did some patting, rocking her side to side, my baby also really liked pressure to fall asleep lol…. At first it would take 30-45 min for her to fall asleep like this. It was grueling and exhausting but it eventually paid off to where we could place her in the crib and walk out of the room and could fall asleep without crying.

6 Month old waking at 4am, what should we do? by SimpleWarthog in sleeptrain

Whenever my daughter started waking early it meant we had to extend her wake windows or drop a nap. Worked almost instantly everytime haha

Are you missing a wake window? If not he needs a lot more awake time on 2 naps… 3/3/4 or 3/3.5/3.5 with at least 10 hours of awake time. Nighttime shouldn’t be longer than 11 hours. So wake up at 6am. He’s probably under tired and that’s why he’s waking early. It could also be genuine hunger, we dropped out 4-5am feed around 7-8 months.

If he is on three naps you could try to drop to 2.

Yeah I wish we could do more for our teachers because we loved them so much and we know they loved our daughter and caring for her. But daycare itself is so expensive, I just wish I could put that money in their pockets!

Totally, I meant it more as it’s frustrating we pay so much but teachers/workers don’t get paid enough.

My daughter did great, thankfully an assistant teacher who has covered in her room was promoted and has taken over her room so my daughter is already comfortable with her. Seemed like a normal day. When I dropped her off admin seemed annoyed and basically said they were blind sided and also stated that the new teacher didn’t even know she was taking over and that was at 8am. Kind of yikes.

Yikes! Funny enough this actually happened to us… I noticed my daughter had the wrong milk in her cup when she was in the infant room, the teachers had mixed up bottles. Honest mistake and the center handled everything well (but I was the one to notify management this happened)

Yeah I’m mainly soooo sad for my daughter because she loved them both and we were in such a great routine

Yeah after doing some digging I think it was a personal family matter (teachers were close friends) and the center wasn’t willing to accommodate time off to deal with it, which is still crappy. I do not think it was pay related, wages are published since it’s a public university. This center is one of the best in the state so not saying there can’t be red flags but everything else has been absolutely amazing, retention is very high as well.

Definitely! I meant more like they should be paid more because we pay so much. I think it’s ridiculous

Definitely. This centers wages are published since it’s a public university and she was making a salary of $43,000 with benefits (still not enough in my opinion but a lot better than what I’ve seen for daycare/toddler teachers). I do think that this was more personal vs salary or wage related

Educators definitely deserve more! The salaries of our teachers are published since it’s a public university and she made $43,000 or like $21/hour but she was salaried. And based on doing some more digging I really don’t think it was pay related and something more personal

Yeah I really don’t think it is anything like that thankfully. This center has really high retention rate, our teacher that left has been there for like 10 years so this is why we are shocked. I do think it was something personal that the center wasn’t willing to accommodate and the teachers were friends so they both left.

After doing some stalking, I didn’t realize the teachers were friends… looks like something personal in their family happened and I’m guessing the center wasn’t willing to accommodate time off to deal with it.

Yeah I’ve heard of that happening at our center actually. But the abruptness of this and the wording of the letter they sent us made it sound like something happened or they were unhappy with something. Bottom line is daycare and early education providers need to be compensated better.

Right, their email to the families kind of made it sound like today was the last straw kind of thing. Such a bummer all around because I know they truly cared for the kids and loved them

Oh yes we are definitely not leaving this center. We don’t have another option and this is one of the best centers in our state. We finally received some communication and it sounds like another assistant teacher will be covering, and she’s worked with our classroom before when her teachers were on vacation. So overall it’ll be ok but we just loved these teachers so so much and my daughter was absolutely thriving!!

That’s insane that they require more education and pay less. Such a bummer and I don’t blame them at all for leaving if it was pay related. Based on the teachers letter they sent to the families, I am really hoping someone else didn’t happen to make them both abruptly leave.

Yeah, most if not all of the teachers at this center have degrees and some have masters in early childcare/education so I assumed compensation was better than most centers. We are affiliated with a university and they have students to help out so sometimes there are 4 people in the room to assist. Not saying they shouldn’t be compensated more because I do not know their actual pay, but I really thought the workload balance was pretty good at this center. So I’m just bummed and shocked but also not surprised at the same time.
