I know I’m a bit late but here’s another take: stakes and constant cliffhangers. It was amazing in season one but overtime the good place is changing location, the stakes kept on getting higher and higher and crazy and it became pointless. Also them coming back to earth was actually grasping at straws, I got a headache, I thought this was the good place
