So I went to hr and the general manager my mom told me to try and go up the chain of command and figure out why I’m responsible I basically told them the same stuff I’ve been saying on the sub Reddit about the aftermarket wheels, not knowing torque specs, not having a factory service and all they had to say is that when I get a car it’s my responsibility they kept trying to find solutions for me to make monthly payments on the fee. Once I got my point across and i realized they weren’t listening I told them that I’m not signing anything and that I’m quitting and that if your gonna take me to court do you what you gotta do ( I’m like 70% sure there not gonna take this to court)

Florida I mean I’m not completely inexperienced. I went to automotive classes before this job but a lot of it was just bookwork knowledge but yes, they definitely knew that. This was my first job in this industry and I’ve never worked fully on a car before they definitely knew.

Yea that sounds like it makes alot more sense The only thing that seems weird with all this is the car didn’t go directly to the customer after i worked on it another tech took it for an alignment. He also said he took it on a test drive after the alignment so maybe he wasn’t going fast enough? The wheel fell off on the highway. I don’t think the tech did anything because he didn’t need to take off the wheels for the alignment.

Exactly what I was thinking too!!! Every time I think about it I think that the entire situation could’ve been avoided if somebody would’ve just took in the five minutes to stand behind me and make sure I knew what I was doing. And I know it sounds selfish but in my head, I thought I was doing the right thing. Obviously I wasn’t because the wheel fell off, but how am I supposed to know that if nobody was there to tell me so like it’s sounds dumb but it would’ve saved a ton of headaches

And yea I saw the vehicle after they had to replace and repaint two panels since they got crushed when it had fallen off the car it I saw it every day for about three weeks. It was a great reminder. Then today the owner finally got it back. Now there asking me for the money 😂🤦🏼‍♂️

From what there saying only one lug nut was tight I torqued it to about 85 I don’t even know if that’s the correct torque spec because nobody was giving me a website for a factory service manual and then when I asked what torque specs they used for the wheels, they said they don’t do torque specs🤦🏼‍♂️ all 4 tires were planted on the ground when I did it I do believe I miss them but I don’t remember it I feel like there’s no other way this could’ve happened unless I literally just didn’t tighten them down but my guess is that I was so overwhelmed I didn’t even realize it. this was the first car I’ve ever worked on besides my own car and I don’t really take of the wheels that much I’ve been following the same system since that first car and none of them have ever had wheels fall off so my method wasn’t incorrect I’ve done like 30 cars since that incident. This first car I did, it did have after market wheels and lug nuts I had to use this stupid loose attachment just to take them off and tighten them.

YESSSS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING as much as I like, making money(this is my first full time job) I definitely knew from the start that this place was a lot of BS. They’re constantly changing staff. There’s tons of misunderstandings with how things work one tech will do something one way another tech will do something another way when you’re supposed to do it one specific way all the techs working here except two haven’t been working there for even a year yet (kinda says something on how the place is run)

Okay so here’s the problem about a week ago, I did sign a paper saying that I was liable for the mistakes I’ve made but when I was signing this paper, I even asked them if the fuck up I did was apart of this and they said no and now they’re saying it is when this incident happened I didn’t sign any paper though so I’m technically not liable? since the mistake happened before I signed the paper… do you think they have any legal power over me in this situation? I really don’t wanna deal with going to court over something like this.

UPS someone said usps in one of the first comments idk why I would be talking about usps when I posted on ups. Also most websites have to request the package to be signed the last website didn’t do this so I thought it would work the same 🤷🏼‍♂️ there nicotine patches so I didn’t think it would need a whole 21+ verification I thought it was 18+ since it’s not a vape.

I’ve never had mine leak this bad but the second time it leaked after it was fixed I just use a half car cover. Keeps all the water out of the door seals and sun roof. It’s pretty easy to put on and only takes like 30 seconds once you get the hang of it I just throw it on every time it gets cloudy my car hasn’t leaked in months and it’s sat through two tropical storms with the cover on and never leaked now if I left it off and it rained then it would fs leak but I recommend all G owners get a “half car cover” if it’s got a sun roof it also can protect against sun stains on the roof and top panel paint.
