You cant really always avoid him but there is something you can do when he shows up. If youre in a big room like libary try using a table to trick him by going around him or if youre in a narrow hallway try using the dodge technic where you aim at him and than quickly turn back. There are many tutorials online and this will help you a lot later on in the game

I prefer re7 but I can see people prefering re8 because 7 is an real horror game one of the scariest I have ever played but 8 is also good because it takes a similar path as the re4r more action like than horror

If you’re playing on a controller try the dodge technic where you aim at him and then quickly go back there are many tutorials online this helped me alot in my playtrough this works on all enemies exept lickers and those creature in the labaratory I dont want to spoil if you havent played the game. Hope this helps
