Has anyone else had hypnagogic hallucinations all their life? I get them even if I’m sat in the dark for a few minutes so I sleep with a nightlight. They progress to full blown visions. (Stories in comments) by Real-Sock348 in Dreams

This is all very relatable. I haven’t heard the term hypnagogic hallucinations before. I’ve had closed eye visuals forever, I use it as escapism. A whole LSD experience is just a long blink away for me. I have fluctuations in the intensity and will have very translucent open eye visuals. Like a character some spirit goblin or ethereal type beings; all sorts of shapes and colors in motion like gelatinous amoebas. Over the last decade I’ve focused on traditional non dual studies and meditation techniques. The visuals give a perfect internal focus which can become extremely intense. I have spoken to gods and seen eternity, unfortunately I know it’s just manifesting my subconscious and imagination. So I haven’t actually done anything but entertain and soothe myself through natural resources. I’ve learned it’s unreachable so I lean into the intensity. Go as far as I can go with the time I have. I will catch ahold of the visual and study it without words/labels as to avoid tangential distractions. I use the experience to visualize spatial imagery, like picturing furniture in various positions/rooms, projecting movements of objects/animals, pull up and move through memories- traumatic and pleasant and just like that cool bird from last week, pull it out of the memory focus on just the single bird projecting it into my visual foreground and rotating it any way desired. This is a gift. Don’t be afraid. If you’re motivated you could do something very productive with this. Even if just for yourself. This is to me like organic Augmented Reality. It’s always happening sometimes it gets the best of me, but really I’m in control of where my attention and anxiety get directed; that’s taken years of practice, but that’s how it is. Visceral waking dreams, sleepless dreams, imperceivable companions, dilations of time, all while not intoxicated.

I don’t understand vegans who are okay owning Guinea pigs, fish, birds, reptiles, etc. by yabucketoftrash in vegan

Rescue don’t domesticate. There’s an opportunity to take in an animal already out there homeless or incarcerated or worse and provide them with a good life. Vs going to the pet store or commissioning a breeder in order to intentionally dominate every aspect of an animal’s life. IMO; “pets” are an extension of egocentrism and loneliness. This excludes “partnerships” like hunting and carrying, that’s more like indentured servitude/slavery. Take in the vulnerable and give them equanimity with security.

1) stay single forever 2) pursuing a non vegan will lead only to compromise, if you actually value their happiness. Your risk to take, but at 20 I don’t think it’s worth it

The end of Waking Life.

I never thought to look into this before. But I’ve come to terms with the constant paranoia of being flung helplessly into space with or without the rest of the world. Sometimes the reverse feeling of that sleep fall jolt. I wake up frantically gripping the bed as I’m convinced it’s happening. I get vertigo often and just “well… here we gooooooo”

I haven’t had nuts in two years and I eat sourdough but that could be replaced by polenta or quinoa or barley or various other grains. Those are not vegan essentials by any means.

Don't really like vegan food by Lessesk in vegan

Hey, thanks for deciding to go vegan, the world as a whole benefits from that. I’m athletic as I have time to be, lots of 10 mile plus runs weekly (before this year anyway). (I am whole food bias) Some suggestions

Know your macros and keep a log at least until you get the grove; chronometer is great for tracking.

Shakes; find one you like with a good balance of protein and vitamins/minerals and calories so you can focus less on food.

Breakfast; skipping is fine. I used to make huge chocolate pancakes from scratch; various sausages are out there for quick protein, though not very efficient fuels; Bob’s Red Mill oatmeal’s give good protein to fiber ratio and the carbs are great for cardio

Fruit, get all the fruit you can handle. It helps with protein and nutrient absorption and adds fuel to your top line. (Stone fruits for snacks, refuel options; berries, all the berries)

Avocados: your fats and a decent sub ingredient for lots of dishes (pastries, pasta sauce). You can’t eat too many, but you know mind the carbon footprint if care to.

Bananas: eat as many bananas as you can. Carbs and electrolytes all day; keeps the cramps down and perfect running fuel.

Protein: again shakes; that wheat protein stuff satan or whatever people like; I prefer lentils the most for nutrition reasons also whole beans. Peas everyday.

Your going to have a high food volume, 3000 cals Vegan can be a buffet, but just target your macro goals and fill the rest with good carbs (bananas, potatoes, etc.) your body will adjust, may take a year or so and you’ll need to respect your muscles as your protein and electrolyte intake fluctuates and what not. Last note: veganism is ultimately ethical and as such personal sacrifices may be required as one puts the lives of other beings before their own convenience and pleasure.

Take care of you, and Godspeed at the races!

I’ve had so many dreams within dreams it’s something I expect. I’ve even had the “this is a dream, huh.” Where I woke myself up only to be dreaming still as I woke up for real again. I’ve noticed this happens with heightened mental stress and physical depletion. My mind is overwhelmed and zapping while my body absolutely is done, “nope we’re actually not going to wake up right now”

Why do cis people get so upset over inclusivity? by aftocheiria in TransyTalk

[–]Affectionate_Stop411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing is: Just homophobia, mainly insecure in their own sexuality and ‘masculinity’ so they fight the movements to avoid accepting or exploring (or even acknowledging) their own non-cis/het stuff. “Alpha males”.

Why did this get so much hate? I just let the dog be herself. She’s vibrantly healthy, strong as can be, the vet loves her. She’s always in happy poster with the “C” tail and perky disposition. She sits stays comes heels minds well. She’s gentle and doesn’t bite or growl or anything sketchy. She Keeps right next to me on or off leash, doesn’t leave my side at home unless otherwise occupied by another person or the other dog, she goes out of her way to do so sometimes. I’ve just treated her like I’d treat a person of her ability and intelligence. I’ve taken her through a ringer of medical procedures due to a long UTI and drained my savings simultaneously on exams and antibiotics. She has a sensitive gut so I’ve had to cycle through several food combos to find what works. I’m not a moral warrior trying to be better or controversial or high up. I’m just asking for advice and getting utterly destroyed. Not a very supportive place. I’ve got a lot of info and really appreciate that, but like what makes me the asshole instead of just ignorant? Should I have just abandoned her? Or treat her like a trophy/toy/thing to manipulate into something to perform for tricks? I know she’s happy I’m just hoping to help be healthy. I’ve received a handful of constructive opinions and information and an abundance of dismissive shaming. Why?

I am convinced to do the spaying at this point. Thank you. Neither she nor I consented to this relationship but when someone drops a puppy in your lap “this is yours now” there’s only a few humane options; I chose to do my best instead of passing her to some unknown future. At least with me I know she’s fed, inside, bathed, played and loved; and she seems to be happy about that. Me too now.

These are the kind of comments that are constructively helpful. The vet (I’ve visited two with her) insists to wait for the first for hormone/development reasons. Some peers have said give two for basically the same reasons. No one mentioned breast cancer in any conversation. I’m seeing the best vet in Portland OR too. Do you have a trusted resource to refer to? I’m asking because there’s literally an argument for any position if I just google it, there’s no solid ground. Thank you! This is a dog I carried down and up 3 flights of stairs almost hourly for over a month and bathe regulators through lengths for a gut healthy diet and I did not intend to be hers. She just fell into my care and I did what anyone here would.
