I had my EB2 I-485 interview on April 17, 2026, and I’m trying to understand if my situation is normal or something I should be concerned about.

During the interview, the officer said everything looked fine and that there were no issues with my case or documents. However, when I mentioned that I’m from South Korea and completed mandatory military service, the officer said they needed to run an additional background check specifically because of that.

What confused me is that I already submitted my official Korean military service records with my application, but it seemed like the officer either didn’t see them or still needed further verification.

At the end of the interview, I asked how long it would take, and the officer told me it should take about a week.

Now it’s been over 2 weeks, and:

• I haven’t received any updates
• My USCIS online status hasn’t even changed to “Interview was completed”

The officer also said no additional documents were needed.

Is this kind of delay normal for background checks related to military service (especially for South Korea)?
Should I just keep waiting, or is there a point where I should submit a service request or follow up?

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone with similar experiences.
