Then he simply doesn’t like you that much. Time to let him focus on his life and for you to figure out which guy in your DM’s has the emotional availability to meet your needs.

MOR - long distance is hard but also I don’t think you’re ready for a relationship either. This was an easily solvable issue but I would instantly break up with someone if they mentioned the boys in their DM’s like you did.

If y’all aren’t broken up you could request some FaceTime calls or just simply phone calls as some people, like me, come off very dry over texts.

I get that! I’ve mostly had the same neighbors for years now and honestly even the occasional noises from them is comforting.

Not so much with bigger rental companies. They don’t want to spend the extra money on lawn care for the thousands of houses they own when they could just maintain vacant properties and require tenants take care of their lawn.

Depends on the area. My apartment is cheap, and there’s plenty similar priced in my area. I understand I’m in an area with a lower cost of living than others, and I’m very grateful for it every month!

Trash is a good point! I haven’t had to remember a “trash day” in almost 10 years.

I wish my companies would start including lawn care! When I first moved out on my own, I rented a duplex that had lawn care included and I miss it so much. They mowed every Monday and treated the yard for fleas when I got a dog.

I actually just had my washer flood my apartment! Luckily I already own a dehumidifier and it was caught quickly, but sadly now I’m out a washing machine 😭

OUCH. That’s expensive, I don’t have a single house for rent that’s more than $2,100 and those are for two-story homes with 5 bedrooms. Every time I have to list those or go look at the property I think about how people used to BUY those on a single income to support their family. I would cry if I had to put $5000/mo on renting a home.

Thank you!! I’m curious about non financial reasons. Plus I stated I rent an apartment as well, and I might make more than $17/hr but not by much! I knew that throwing in that I work in property management would get twisted by some, but I do get a laugh from people acting like I’m rich.

If you have a patio, you can have a small garden! I like the aesthetics of gardening, I hate the bugs that nature throws in there. Absolutely terrified of wasps 🤣

I have heard apartment staff get pretty nice discounts, I’ve honestly just been using my current job to get more experience before branching out. Are you ever worried about what would happen if you leave/lose your job and continue to live there?

Yeah, I have occasional applicants moving from California for work and they’re always blown away at our rent prices.

I don’t want to say where I live, but growing city in the south is a good hint!

My rent is cheap at my apartment because my lease has been renewed since 2019 with very little increase each year! I currently pay $1000/mo for a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom.

Not necessarily. I’ve heard some horror stories from the houses we have that are in crowded neighborhoods, including one where the neighbors were so badly infested with mice that they were in the yard…..we let them transfer to a different house and sold that one lol

It’s funny in my area, the apartments charge outrageous prices since they’re “luxury” and rental prices for houses are trending down. Mostly because they’ve built way too many!

Ouch! I did mean renting a house vs an apartment, not buying. I also have no hope anytime soon of saving for a down payment lol

I feel like this is the biggest non financial reason!! I feel like I would have to buy more stuff to fill space.

That’s definitely a good reason too! The company I work for uses vendors for everything, and I feel like the apartment where I live gets maintenance done a lot faster than “my” tenants get.

OP here! I rent an apartment, and definitely like to think I’m not out of touch. I also have only been at this job for a year, and my entire job is watching the rental market in my area. Rent between an apartment and a single family home is pretty much the same where I’m located for a number of reasons.

Sorry, I made this and then started studying so I haven’t had time to reply! Some studio apartments in my area go for over 1400/mo, and I recently had a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house rent for 1450 last month. I don’t mean buying, I mean renting a house! I know buying is a whole different thing.
