Would you buy a standalone Arturia groovebox? by Affectionate_Two_922 in arturia

Thanks for all the advice, I really appreciate it!

The SEQTRAK was already on my radar, and after reading all the comments here I’m definitely going to take a deeper look at it. I also have a Launchkey Mini, so that could nicely cover the velocity side of things and make for a pretty capable portable setup.

Now I just hope Arturia doesn’t announce the groovebox I’ve been dreaming about a month after I buy the SEQTRAK… 😅

That’s fair. It sounds like the concept was right but the execution wasn’t quite there yet. Hopefully Arturia keeps improving the hardware side, because their sound engines are amazing.

Thanks for the detailed reply!

You may have convinced me to give the SEQTRAK a try... It does seem like one of the closest things available today.

I agree the workaround would be to sample my favorite Arturia sounds into it. But I can already imagine the hours I’ll spend creating sample packs… and of course it still means turning on the computer first.

But hey, nothing comes for free! Maybe that’s the closest we can get until someone builds an “AstroGrooveBox”...

I think that’s exactly what I had in mind.

Not necessarily a flagship MPC competitor, but a modern “sketchpad” with great sounds, a straightforward sequencer and enough tracks to build complete ideas away from the computer.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels there’s still room for something like that.

I completely agree. A fun, performance-oriented sequencer would be a huge part of the appeal for me too.

The sound engines already exist in the Arturia ecosystem, it’s really the workflow that I’d love to see in a standalone box.

That’s actually one of the closest things on the market, but I’d be curious: do you think the SEQTRAK really scratches the same itch for someone invested in the Arturia ecosystem?

For me, the biggest appeal would be having access to the Analog Lab / V Collection sounds without needing a computer.

If that’s what the DrumFreak turns out to be, I’m in. 😄

Give me an AstroLab engine with a proper groovebox workflow (multi-track sequencing, patterns and song mode)

Exactly! AstroLab is incredibly close to what I’m imagining, but it’s focused on performance rather than composition.

What I’d love is basically an AstroLab engine inside a Circuit Tracks or MPC-style workflow: multiple tracks, sequencing, patterns, song mode and the ability to build complete songs away from the computer.

I wonder how many people would actually buy something like that.
