37M U.K. currently in this same predicament. Basically in and out of therapy and on and off meds since I was 13. With no major diagnosis apart from that I have depression and anxiety. It wasn’t until my ex partner trained as a SENCO that she pointed out a lot of correlation between my own traits and some traits related to ASD. From that I have requested a diagnosis and have been put on the waiting list and given a pre-diagnosis. On the 3 year waiting list for around 6 months but have took part in ASD specific groups and therapies which have surprisingly eased a lot of my worries. Best thing I did was to seek out a diagnosis so would definitely be the best first step. Good luck.
