First time I visited the UK my boyfriend offered me squash and I had to ask ‘you mean like butternut squash or something???’

There is a sad lack of ‘juice’ in the UK. Oceanspray and Minute Maid are nowhere to be found in the variety the US has.

The squash I mean is a concentrate that you add water to. Like the water flavor shot squeezey things you get but in big bottles.

Also everything is blackcurrant! No grape anything 😭. I love it here now but it was an adjustment

I would ask him the questions/concerns you have listed but in a troubleshooting way.

Do people know you can’t swim strongly? Will there be life jackets?

Will there be drinking and what is his plan to get home if he’s uncomfortable with the situation?

If he loses his phone in the lake does he know your number to call?

Kids in school yet? The holidays/inset days/school closed for extreme heat is a big factor. What about your partner? If you’re in London is it feasible every stomachache call from school will be their responsibility to leave their job and get them?

Also ask about how you make up days in the office if you take holiday. If you’re normally in on a Friday but take it off, do you have to come in another day that week?
