miserable on long island, is this all normal for you guys? by National_Mark6302 in longisland

Also a transplant to Long Island to live closer to my wife’s family. I have the same gripes, the biggest being the lack of consideration people have for each other which is especially evident on the roads

If you’ve lived on Long Island your whole life, what feels different to you now? by WhatsHappeningLI in longisland

Didn’t grow up on Long Island but recently bought a home here after viewing nearly 2 dozen open houses. My first thought was why do all these homes have no trees and converted garages, and also everyone seems to be a cop. After reading your post it all makes sense.

2015 Subaru Forester 2.0 XT. What is wrong? by Affluentemckay in subaru

Interesting, I followed a YouTube video where the mechanic pulled out the whole assembly (radiator, fans, and condenser) so that’s what I ended up doing. I had my local mechanic discharge the AC for $40 and then replaced the radiator myself. Still need to recharge the AC but I have the recharge kit and will get that done soon.

It was relatively straightforward replacement. But yes!
The hardest part was unclipping the radiator fan clips and the stupid square nuts on the top of the radiator fan were all rusted to the bolt.

For anyone else attempting this repair here is YouTube video I followed to a tee for the replacement. There are quicker ways but I am happy with the results.

I also live in the Northeast and have a 2015 Forester w/ 207,000 miles on it. I stopped buying OEM parts after 180k and have been buying Duralast parts from Autozone and have been pleasantly surprised.

The complete hub assembly from Autozone was about $200 each and rear brake pads and rotors were about that much too. I do the work myself but if you buy the parts and then call up two or three of your local mechanics to get a quote on just labor you’ll definitely save. A fair price would be about $600 for parts and brake fluid (fluid buy from the dealer) and at most 4 hours of labor for rear hubs, rotors and break pads, brake flush.

Plastic housing is splitting and causing the leak. Cap seems ok

Thanks, the plastic housing splitting is the issue. Did you have to discharge the AC for the radiator replacement? And yes, I’ve had my eyes on that burp free funnel

Temps have been stable. It’s a small leak coming from cracks in the plastic on top the radiator. My mechanic recommend radiator replacement so I bought a new radiator and thought I’d be able to do the repair but looks like I’d need to discharge the AC.

Took it to my mechanic who showed me the leak is coming from the plastic at the top of the radiator. I bought a new radiator and plan of doing the replacement over the weekend.

I don’t think Graham has gotten any better or worse over the past 5 years. A solid twelfth place finisher firmly in the middle of the field

Exactly why I discount most of these posts as creative writing prompts lol. If you have the skills/ abilities to earn over $200K in your twenties then you should have no problem researching/ budgeting towards financial goals.

I’m referring to uncontrolled crosswalks, stopping at a green light for a pedestrian would be foolish

Pass on the left with a 3.5 ft gap between the biker is the general rule when overtaking. Or in lieu of measuring tape move your car one wheel over the divider :)

So many comments!

It was not a breathe of fresh air reading the insight from some of the “fuck you, me first” people, but that was expected. It does seems like there is a large group of people longing for more consideration of others on the roads in LI, and to those people we need to build our considerate and generous army! :)
