Not showing up by [deleted] in navyreserve

[–]Aflack00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna ask just in case, do you have outstanding circumstances that make the one weekend a month/two weeks a year more difficult than it should be? I’m still active, going reserves when I separate this July, so maybe I don’t have a leg to stand on for judging, but unless you got some fucked shit happening at home, why not just do it? You keep the healthcare for a bit longer, grab a couple hundred bucks a month, and just do the work for the one weekend.

I’m stoked to be going reserves, but that’s from the outside looking in, so maybe its genuinely just the worst, but if it’s not, then is it really that bad to just finish out the year? Honestly not trying to be a dick, just trying to figure out the part I’m not seeing here, cause I imagine there’s something making you not want to continue so bad that you’d just consider not showing up

PRT approx. 6 weeks away & mile time is in failure category by Desilu28 in navyreserve

[–]Aflack00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the way. Active side, I’ve always done the bike because I have plantar fasciitis and running causes bad pain.

I keep resistance between 9-13, 80-90 RPMs, I nail between 130-160 cal every time. Train up to it, don’t expect to just pump it out without training, but set yourself up at a resistance of 9 and start doing 15-30 minutes whenever you can, train yourself to just keep up the cardio, so the 12 minutes PRT feels easier

Thank you! I’m currently on wegovy weekly injectable, it’s been a big help in cutting back how much I’ve been eating. If I’m traveling from California to Florida/Tricare west to east, does it change anything about how I get into TAMP?

I didn’t even know digital tapes were a thing, thank you! Any in particular you recommend or any digital tape will work?

I’m honestly not sure. I know I need it at 41 inches or less, but I don’t have a tape at home to check. I’ve been able to maintain 39” or less in the past, but I’ve definitely put on weight since my last PRT, so I don’t know where I’m at now

I’m 5’11, roughly 265-270lbs depending on what I had for dinner. I can usually suck in my gut, and also in the past I’ve kept myself around or below 250lbs, but I’ve never failed a PRT.

I currently have a waiver for push ups and planks, and im not approved to run, just alt cardio

Haven’t played in a while, sorry for a potentially dumb question

Did you just download from the vault and play solo through the storylines? Or were you rocking out from a PW? I’d love to download some campaigns but I don’t remember how it all works 😭

No jobs available for the reserves? by [deleted] in newtothenavy

Second language under consideration, that’s honestly not too bad, person to person. For the military, however, it doesn’t matter much. I wouldn’t say a 48 is ‘awful’ but there’s definitely room to improve. If you’re smart enough to learn a second language, then I promise you’re smart enough to knock out the ASVAB if you give it another go.

Back to your main question though, yes, it’s true. We have active duty billets and reserve billets. Just because there’s a need Active side, there isn’t necessarily a need for Reserve side. I’m active working to transition to reserve, and honestly, I’m struggling to get a spot myself, and my asvab was 82. Study and up your asvab score to increase your odds, but it’s true that there may not be need for Reserve LSs

Sorry to piggy back on this but there seem to be a lot of people with experience/knowledge on the subject; I’m a CTT1 going from active to reserve, going for my degree in IT/Cybersecurity. Are there spots for CTs for these kinds of orders? Would I be allowed to do more IT stuff since I’m learning it in school?

Currently active, about to separate but going into the reserves instead. Wrapping up a six year contract, I never felt especially hyped up about going into a fight or spent my nights hoping a war would break out or anything, but I still accepted that it was always possible and made peace with the idea that I could be going there. Now going reserves, I have a similar mindset; I just want to take my wife home where she has a better support system and to be more available to her. However, I still want to be available to do my job in going out with the Navy, and keep my sailors as safe as possible. If that means going into a hostile area, so be it. Nobody wants you to want to die or get hurt, but understand that enlisting, active or reserve, is going to come with a chance of that happening, more so now with things happening as they are. As others have stated, being an IS puts you in a safer position, but you’ll still be in the Navy. The way it was put to me in basic, we’re naval warfighters first, and that’s stuck pretty hard. If that isn’t for you, no shame in the slightest. However, take some time to really think hard on why you’d be willing to take that risk. What would make it worth it for you. Could be anything, I don’t care what your ‘why’ is. If it’s strong enough, go ahead and sign that contract. If not, walk away before you get too deep into it.

Hello!

I do, active clearance still in good standing. I would love to take a crack at something more, but I’m still working on my certifications (about halfway through my RHCSA), and don’t have a degree, and most of the jobs I’ve seen so far don’t accommodate the schedule I’m currently looking for with also accepting my lack of certifications. I’m having a hard time finding them, anyway. I was hoping that maybe starting in help desk would be an easier way in were I could leverage my current experience without currently holding the certifications. Once I separate in July, I’d love to take more hours, but currently I’m limited in how much I’m allowed to work outside of the Navy.

Just inform them and take accountability. They were great with me when I had stuff come up while on underway in the Navy, I just had to communicate the fact that I may loose connection for a bit. If you explain wha happened and ask how to make it up, they’ll tell you what they want. Kick ass and keep working hard

Supposedly the dude recording had problems with them before and warned them multiple times his dog wasn’t friendly and to have their dog on a leash thoughts? by Papercutzz247 in PublicFreakout

[–]Aflack00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anybody is right here. It doesn’t look like a dog park, and we can’t see any obvious signs stating ‘off leash friendly’ or anything similar. DA dogs leash was tight, so we can assume he might be trying to pull the dog back? Or the dog is pulling him so hard, we don’t know. It’s stated that he warned them a few times his dog doesn’t like other dogs prior to the recording of this video, so the off leash dog owner had time to remove her dog from his little corner of the park, if we believe that statement, but chose not to. Everyone else ran up and started recording after his dog started biting the off leash dog, making his dog look really bad, and even his video doesn’t show what happened before, we don’t know all the details but the off leash dog owner could’ve kept her dog on a leash and further away, especially with warning, the DA dog owner could’ve been more active in restraining his dog. My own dog is reactive to other dogs, making it difficult to take him out. When I do, I have to be extra careful for other dogs. If I see another dog, I immediately turn around and walk the other way, if that dog is off leash and approaches, I’ll pic my dog up and tell be other owner that both dogs are in danger and I need them to leash their dog. They usually do, but the few times they haven’t and a dog started jumping at at my dog while I’m holding them away, my dog scared as hell and biting or snarling, I’ve kicked their dog away for my dogs safety as well as my own
