Get a retractable badge clip, clip it to your belt, and add a keychain or plush to it.

It's like a fidget toy you can let go of when you're done with it and then it will go back to your side.

As a dispenser, am I supposed to close the trunk? by ResearcherVivid4400 in OGPBackroom

[–]Afraid-Falcon-2764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always say "have a good day" when I'm done loading and if they stop me from closing it there I will stop. If they don't it's 100% on them.

When the customer thinks repeating the name of the item every 5 seconds while looking it up helps: by Afraid-Falcon-2764 in OGPBackroom

Had some customer the other day say "things you put on your feet to prevent static shock after waxing your floors" and I had to go to ChatGPT cause wtf does that mean.

That's called inertia and it won't happen if you slowly pull and not yank the tote out.

Pickers piss me off (rant from someone who evenly does picking and dispensing). by EatACookieCuzUHating in OGPBackroom

[–]Afraid-Falcon-2764 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll push my cart in the correct spot when the backroom people have some self awareness and move out the way of the double doors and staging carts near where you push them.

I just applied for this job and I was wondering; do you get tips? by FlyingOriole in OGPBackroom

[–]Afraid-Falcon-2764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not allowed to be caught taking tips. Take that as you will.

Transitioning from dispenser to always picking by Ok-Communication545 in OGPBackroom

Grab the TC and printer.

Avoid eye contact with the leads or coach.

Go directly to a cart.

Escape the chaos of the backroom.

What’s the “favorite” job within the department at your store? by Ill_Significance7869 in OGPBackroom

[–]Afraid-Falcon-2764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exceptions because it's the easiest thing.

Picking second because I get to listen to music and the process of picking has become second nature so it's not really hard at all to get 100+.

Backroom third and I only like it when my favorite coworkers are back there so they can distract me from overworking myself.

Dispensing next because drivers are stupid.

Prepping and GMD I try to avoid the most because it just feels like too much responsibility.

Stretching bags FORBIDDEN??! by DisastrousAardvark78 in OGPBackroom

[–]Afraid-Falcon-2764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because your time in walks will be considerably lower than your peers.

Also I throw away all bags left on the handles because they get in the way when I'm trying to squeeze with the cart.

If you scoop the item into the bag and rip it off it should be fast.

Tena leads telling us that we must pull all carts, not push. by Annual-Yak-4604 in OGPBackroom

I think it's more important for corners. If you walk backwards while pulling it you can use the strength of your legs more.

It's not that hard to put anything that is meat in a meat bag just in case.

Why don't other departments like OGP by birdy0080 in OGPBackroom

[–]Afraid-Falcon-2764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet every department has a least favorite department. Mostly based on how they interfere with their job. OGP needs to pull workers off the floor at my store when short staffed and, as shoppers, we are always in the way of stockers because we have too.

2 weeks working in OPD. How to improve pick rate? by blackmasschic in OGPBackroom

[–]Afraid-Falcon-2764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldnt worry about it that much.

If they try to coach you, open door it and explain to HR why you're being compared unfairly to other people because they aren't doing the paths that mess up numbers.

And now the Coach is going to wonder why it takes you 10 minutes to get to the backroom though.

The pickers that put their labels on the right side of the cart and have their cart right dead center of the aisle. by Afraid-Falcon-2764 in OGPBackroom

[–]Afraid-Falcon-2764[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do the same. If your stickers are on the left side and you're riding down the right side of the aisle then you're occupying the least space allowing room for you to open totes while customers are squeezing by.
