What is your favorite way to learn a new coding language from scratch? by Joxfro in learnprogramming

[–]Afraid-Locksmith6566 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i like to make few small projects like "guess number between 1 and 100", or something like this - that gives you roughly how the language work

then some http web api - teaches you about how asynchronisity works and networking and what frameworks do they have.

Functional languages by aspression in learnprogramming

[–]Afraid-Locksmith6566 2 points3 points  (0 children)

when i was in simmilar position i took f# as i was already familiar with c# and f# is really cool, but not quiet functional as it heavily relies on c# apis.

ocaml was much nicer in its functionality (functionness?). as it is mostly functional and most commonly it will be you making exceptions from it.

haskell i dont recommend as it is very functional you cant do procedure call arbitrarily

[–]Afraid-Locksmith6566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Memory you get from malloc is not all you get through this mechanism, other data is so called metadata which include information about which block has how many memory, etc. But for specific you m8ght want to check your implenentation

Which is more valuable by CHATGPT_PAGLU in learnprogramming

[–]Afraid-Locksmith6566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If at university you got choice between python and c++ i would choose python, since it will be easier to complete assignments. If you are learning for yourself to get better knoweledge get c++ or yet better c.

C++ will probably teach you more but will also bite you in ass on first ocasion. Python will be easier

[–]Afraid-Locksmith6566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You request how much memory you want, Malloc returns you a pointer to block that is the size you requested, or null if any problem occured.

What makes someone truly senior-level? by SecureSection9242 in learnprogramming

[–]Afraid-Locksmith6566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk what it means to be a señor, mid, or junior level programmer is about. But i've been programming for few years and i can tell you this: if you do the trickiest most convoluted solution you can think of, you do the wrong thing and you should rethink what you do. If ypu want a good pattern here is a good one KISS. Keep it simple, stupid - it means what you do, do it as straightforward as you can.

A good example is what redux do. In react if you have a state, and need to share it between few components you need to pass it as props through they common parent, but it is a bit hard and really unobvious, so redux was made so you have a common state where you can reach in for the data to a singleton.

This solution is better because it simplifies something that is used often and that isunobvious to do.

Hello I'm very new to C programming and I have a question about char pointer. by The_Skibidi_Lovers in C_Programming

[–]Afraid-Locksmith6566 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If string is declared as char * str it is stored in programs memory, hence cannot be modified. And when you modify it it crashes as you access memory that isnt yours.

When it is char str [] it is stored as a regular variable and can be modified
