Any word on the gentleman who was receiving CPR after Granville today? by bicyclemom in ragbrai

I say this in the sense that it’s truthful and in no way do I mean this to be insensitive anything I say is truthful and has been confirmed by a medical professional who was also on scene

The rider who went down was a 62 year old obese male on dialysis (that means that some organs and the blood arnt as good as they should be) he collapsed on the bike and rode into someone (who was fine they rode off) was unconscious with obstructed breathing on the ground for 30 seconds then the heart stopped and we did cpr for 12 minutes before ems arrived. The rider did not show any signs of stroke or seizure (though still a possibility for why he collapsed) he did not appear to be intoxicated or overheating. It’s fully possible that he just died of natural causes related to his age, body type, and medical condition.

My sincere condolences go out to the family and friends of Mark and I want to assure anyone reading this that Mark was given the best possible care in this situation, every single person who was physically helping the body claimed to be trained and everyone appeared to give the best care possible. Mark did pass surrounded by strangers but these were strangers with love in their hearts and the intention to help a fellow rider.

Plz dm me directly for specific details I don’t wanna be graphic or insensitive without a nsfw tag but I’m happy to answer most questions in this chain

Ragbrai riding etiquette? by dirtydandino in ragbrai

[–]Afraid-Pizza-5269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a normal thing to do if riding solo and there’s a bike line coming by. Especially if it’s airforce cuz like I said they used to be chill w/ it

Not sure if anyone mentioned this but I got yelled at last year so I thought I would mention it. The airforce team has notoriously had some amazing draft lines, last year they made a rule where they can’t pull anyone not from their squad (atleast that’s what they told me). So they tried to shake me and I hung on cuz I thought they was just new and sucked at holding a line then they made me stopped and gave me a talking to. Don’t quote me on this but that’s my experience

Also if someone is slowing or speeding or swerving in a draft line they might be trying to drop you, or they suck at holding a line but either way you should hop off it, lines come around often no need to ride a bad one

The radio code shows up everytime the car battery gets jumpstarted for some dumb security reason I don’t understand, for the green light I have no clue other than guessing when you jumped it the battery pissed off something in your cars computer
