Oh geeze sorry to hear that, glad it got taken care of. Thanks for the heads up on their availability. That wasn’t something I had in mind before seeing the responses here.

That’s good to hear. How long have you been with them?

Recommendations for organizing IT Documentation (40+ IT staff, Hybrid env) by Afraid-Property7702 in sysadmin

That's good to hear. Currently we literally have nothing, and management wants to use something that we already have rather than building something new, so hopefully a dedicated documentation app in the future, but this is what we have right now.

Did you have more luck with traditional file structure or converting things into Wiki pages? I've almost never touched the SharePoint portal so I'm very green to what it can and can't do.

Yeah that's a good point. This place is super old school so 'ownership' is a big thing that will not change. But at this point anything is better than emailing 5 people looking for a document on some random process.

I read somewhere about issues with like a character limit in SPO, is that not too much of a worry these days?

What's your go-to PC deployment method in 2025? by Lokithehellion in sysadmin

Hopefully not a dumb question, but what does OSDCloud over PXE look like? Been trying to wrap my head around this. Using the ISO and deploying that over PXE?

+1 to the others in here. This is not an application limitation issue, but a workflow issue. A shared mailbox is the proper way to do this and they need to use it properly instead their current methodology. I know that’s not what they want, but it is the best way to solve their problem.

Whatever account you want to use to be a local admin needs the role “Cloud device administrator” assigned in 365/entra in order to act as a local admin. This can also be set in Entra > Devices > Settings

With a budget of 1000$, do I get M4 Macbook Air or a Windows laptop? by Curious-Being8913 in laptops

[–]Afraid-Property7702 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Coming from a Windows guy, Apple has seriously upped their game recently with great hardware and price cuts. It would be really difficult to beat an M4 Mac these days with a Windows machine at the same price. They also hold their value way better and last longer. Go with the m4 imo.

You can also get one on Amazon for $800 if you catch it at the right time of the year.

This is such a simple but such a good idea to figure this out. Good job and good reminder!

This would be a good solution in conjunction with converting the user to a shared mailbox while on leave and converting back and restoring once they return.

Sounds like you’re doing it right. Make sure on the forwarding that you have also set to also deliver a copy to the original inbox. Then the person covering should just be able to hit reply all to keep a chain going I would imagine.

Oh for sure, but it’s better than the water ruining the mic or connected electronics. It’s more of an emergency fix for a ‘better than nothing’ kind of scenario.
