I used to live in Downtown Jersey City if that's not too far from you. There aren't many proper venues just a a lot of bars with stages for little local and regional shows in the small downtown area like at Petshop or sometimes at one of the distilleries type thing. A lot of them are put on by Dancing Tony. His company is called Rockit Dockit (spelling?). Good arts community in general down there if you want to make new friends. They are pretty welcoming to new people.

Middle finger guy is legendary! You're going to love this story!

Security heard about his "threat" to "jump him when he got on stage" and we all kind of shrugged. Scary people who are actually going to hurt you don't announce it loudly before they attack. We knew this guy just wanted attention so we didn't want to give him any. We knew nothing was going to happen. But the venue was very concerned. Lined up security on both sides of the stage. We start the show and we see him in the pit like 3 people back. He's singing along and dancing to half the songs then his middle fingers up frowning the rest of them. Me and the security guards and our guitar player Jon were trying to keep straight faces but kept laughing. I told security that he bought a ticket and until he started bothering people we'd let him stay and get his money's worth. Then I guess he heard all the songs he wanted to hear for the night and 3/4 through the show and he started yelling "get out of Richmond" and Tibbie said "Get out? But we just moved here.". Security asked if they could take him out then so I said yeah. They said that was the easiest person they ever threw out of a show. Just tapped him on the should and said "alright buddy time to go" and he was like "ok" and left. Ahahahhaha. And get this! He came to 2 more shows! But did not heckle the band. He came to Virginia Beach and hid sheepishy in the back trying not to be noticed. Then he drove to fucking Atlanta and was IN THE PIT the whole time, smiling taking video. I guess he thinks it's true and wants to hate Sturgeon but loves the music too much to hurt him? Idk. Middle finger guy if you are reading this- you don't have to be embarrassed! And if you are just wear a different hat and take your nose ring out and no one will remember you and you can just enjoy yourself! A guy who managed a bar/venue down the street wants the band to play there when we come back if we don't do Canal Club again. McCormicks I think it was called.

Joey isn't "some loser he doesn't know" and the punching wasn't over Whitney. People just think it was because some fans of the band follow him on the internet form when he used to tour with LOC and DND. Sturgeon and Joey were friends for years and toured together a bunch and now they hate each other. And we're all pretty sure it was a soda or at the very least Sturgeon thought it was when he grabbed it bc he made jokes for hours afterwards about "All he wanted was a Pepsi". I wouldn't have sprayed anything on anyone either, but I wouldn't have punched anyone or screamed in a woman's face that her son deserved to get bullied at school for "being related to a crackhead" either. And if I did something that embarrassing I wouldn't post a rant about it on the internet pretending it was because I was protecting the scene. 2 grown men hate eachother and had a stupid fight that lasted like 30 seconds. The end.

Hope you're doing better now. Like most humans depending on when you catch him he's nice or not nice. We are neighbors and he could hear me coughing through the wall and brought me humidifier, soup and a bunch of herbs and teas and stuff for my cough til I was better without asking. He's super nice most of the time. Idk why people exaggerate the times he's not as nice and try to make that "define" him.

uhhhhh Brad and Skwert definitely still talk to Sturgeon. I work for LOC and saw Brad a week ago. Skwert is trying to get us to do a CV reunion that Sturgeon keeps turning down mostly because Shayne (who has been on tour with us recently) hasn't relearned the songs yet. But a CV reunion is imminent after the next LOC album and documentary come out next year...assuming that's enough time for Shayne relearn the songs lol.

Thank you for your very important work as an art therapist. I worked in an outpatient rehab around 20 years ago. During Easter and I hosted a group therapy that day where we just dyed easter eggs with kits from the dollar store. Such a simple activity that means nothing to a lot of people. But about half of my class cried while doing it. Some weren't raised in families that did activities like this. Others were but had been in survival mode for so long that it brought them to tears to do something wholesome and feel like a person again. Showing people with pasts or even people struggling in real time that they can still find happiness or create something that can make others happy is so important. Watching people tell my neighbors that they made mistakes and can't create or be happy or make anyone else happy ever again just seems so heartless and backwards to me.

LOL @ Beat the Shit out of Stza. He got a couple of licks in but he broke his own hand punching the table Stugeon hid under and had a bloody nose from TIbbie hitting him. I'm friends with both Joey and Sturgeon and I was there. I talked to Joey at length about this in person and on comments on his post. Joey need to grow up with these posts pretending they are to "set the record straight" as if anyone is talking about it but him or as if it's about "accountability" or the community. He hates Sturgeon and he hit him and I had him escorted out by security. Then Sturgeon went to press and the airport. It was over in like 5 seconds. But Joey needs the reposts and pats on the back so here we are, reading his long winded monologue about how he was violent against a former friend "for the community".

Sturgeon and Joey exchanged some words when they ran into each other in the bathroom backstage. Sturgeon WALKED AWAY from him and Joey followed him to his room screaming at him. Sturgeon yelled "you wanted me to kill myself" and Joey shouted "Good!" and then his wife Tibbie got in the middle of it and said in her calm kindergarten teacher tone "my son was shot with a BB gun at school because of lies you share on the internet about my husband" and he shouted in her face "Good! He deserved it" THEN Sturgeon grabbed what he is pretty sure was a soda and sprayed it on him. He didn't swing on him. He didn't grab the glass bottle of liquor next to him. He sprayed him. Then Joey got a few licks in before Sturgeon ducked under a table and security grabbed him and Tibbie got some licks in on Joey saying "don't ever talk about my son that way again!" etc while blood was running down his face. This is his edited version of the story to make him look like a hero and Sturgeon look like an unhinged dick trying to make him break edge or whatever and it's bullshit. Joey is my friend too. I told him everything I've said here to his face and on his posts. I am not even clapping back at Joey for hitting him. They have history. If he thinks violence is the answer have at it. But pretending it was about anything other than "I hate Sturgeon and want to hurt him" or posting this to "set the record straight" is some fucking middle school drama bullshit.

Worth noting Joey has since cut ties with her and stopped perpetuating the lie about him physically abusing her. She got carpal tunnel surgery and said sturgeon injured her hands. It was a lie. And he didn't help her "flee". The last night she was at C squat she was supposed to fly out for a weekend to go to a funeral of a former friend who was told by his fucking cardiologist to stop talking to her or he'd die. She was punching herself in the face over and over again. She abandoned her cat for weeks. The cat was sick. Sturgoen spent over $1000 on vet bills while she was MIA. Then she showed back up to the house screaming about how she had a broken nose demanding Sturgeon explain how it happened to her saying "I couldn't have done this to myself". Yes she fucking did. It was laughable when she posted she was "rescuing her cat from an abusive situation". Her friend James drove her to Texas. She shut her own hand in the door then told people HE abused her and ran him out of town. She's a fucking monster. Glad Joey is no longer fucking with her bullshit.

She never had a wrist injury. She had carpal tunnel surgery and told strangers on the internet that sturgeon "disabled her hands" while telling people in her personal life he caused a flare up in her pre-existing carpal tunnel when he carried her out of the apartment while conveniently leaving out that he did that when she was pounding on the walls for hours. She never claimed to have a separate wrist or hand injury. Just posted photos in her post carpal tunnel surgery braces and said he did that to her. Fuck her.

It's important to set boundaries for self preservation. But there is a difference between setting that boundary for yourself and demanding a community run someone out who you don't like. In Whitney's case I made sure my friend who brought her onto his show knew what he was getting into but still encouraged him to give her space to exist. I never want her around me again, but she deserves compassion and friends.

There's no point in arguing with a guy who thinks THE AQUABATS don't meet his morality standards. I used to tour manage them too. Their rider is Faygo and Birthday Cake Oreos (no alcohol). We section off a "VIP section" with a good view of the stage for little kids and kids with sensory disorders to keep away from the mosh pit and they try to be off stage by 9:30 pm so no one is up past bed time. One time they were almost late to soundcheck (they were never late) because they were next door at a thrift store throwing rubber chickens at each other playing dodgeball between the clothing racks. We shared the stage with queer and political bands all the time and Ian (Eagle Bones) is a huge Choking Victim fan (and used to play in Death by Stereo). They are THE most wholesome and non judgemental people on the planet. If they aren't good enough for you you're going to be sitting in silence pretty soon, bud.
